Importing HSM Datalog Files

Starting with V175, dataPOWER can import HSM datalog files into a worksheet Beca!se the
datalog file contains em"edded form feed characters, this is a two step process and does ha#e some
limitations when compared to s!pport for other testers $he process and limitations are doc!mented

1) The process
%n order to strip the form feed characters o!t of the datalog file, a pre&processor has "een written

Simply press the =(lose> "!tton to dismiss the error dialog "o2 $he message is telling yo! that
the program needs an inp!t file, which is the HSM datalog file to "e con#erted %t will create an
o!tp!t file with the same name e2cept that the e2tension will "e changed to =dat> $his is the
file that yo! will act!ally import into the worksheet
6fter this, yo! merely import a file with the 6S(%% reader in the normal fashion and select the
HSM format file ?HSM@asciifmtA

5A The limitations
a. Since there are no parameter names in HSM programs, we ha#e none to assign in the
worksheet 6ll we ha#e to work with are test n!m"ers so those are the "asis for the
names ,or test n!m"er 1, "oth the test name and parameter name "ecome ='aram@881>
b. $he HSM is a!to&ranging, so if a reading fl!ct!ates aro!nd a "o!ndary, this can ca!se a
pro"lem ,or e2ample, if most of the !nits for test 57 meas!re B!st a"o#e 1m6 "!t a few
!nits are aro!nd :58 !6, then there will "e a few =o!tliers> in the worksheet at :58 m6
% may "e a"le to add a scaling ro!tine to the pre&processor in the f!t!re "!t % cannot make

c. $here are no limits in the HSM datalog so they cannot "e imported from the datalog file
either $he plan is to ha#e the limits parsed from the HSM program ?pro"a"ly "y a 'erl

so that they can then "e imported into a dataPOWER limits sheet and s!"se-!ently
imported into the worksheet with the datalog data Someone else was going to write this
