Biography Cont.
Alastair Rushforth Motorsport was formed in 1989 by Tony
Rushforth when his own very successful Hill Climbing, Sprinting
and Rally career took a back seat to Alastair’s kart racing.

Over the following years, this Father–Son hobby started getting

more and more serious. In 1996, after Alastair had taken part in
the Jim Russell Racing Drivers School world scholarship and
finished second, offers for a full time drive in the Formula
Vauxhall Junior series were coming in from an array of top
teams, these drives were turned down to a lack of budget,
instead the team focused on the British Kart Championships.
With the cost of competitive Karting ever increasing the decision
was made to graduate to car racing in a single make formula for
Mini Cooper's, a car that Tony was familiar with having competed
in many himself.

Decent results followed in the next few seasons, until during the
Christmas period of 2000, when that team had all their equipment
stolen along with the service van, and the Mini was destroyed.
Over the following twelve months, the Mini was rebuilt and the
team tried to regain as much as they could with regards spares
and a vehicle to tow with.

When Alastair returned to the track in May 2002, he was

immediately at the sharp end of the grid again, proving he had
lost none of his appetite for success during this enforced lay off.
Between his return and the end of 2004, Alastair competed in
only a handful of events, but in all of them he finished in the top 6,
gaining podiums, fastest laps and a lap record along the way.

Since 2007 Alastair has raced in the MG Car Club's premier

Championship, the MG Trophy being a consistent pace setter,
and winning over half the races entered. Having been 2nd
Overall, and also Class Champion. 2010 will hopefully see
Alastair finally become Overall Champion.
Race Series

MG Trophy Championship
The MG Trophy is one of the UK's premier single
manufacturer saloon carChampionships offering close
racing with options for equally competitive FWD
(MGZR)and RWD (MG F/TF) cars.

With regulations designed to keep running costs to a

minimum with sealed engines, gearboxes and a
maximum number of new tyres in a season the
Championship has something to offer both novice and
experienced drivers.

Classes A and B are for 190BHP MGZR and MG F/TF

cars running on a controlled Dunlop Slick tyre.

Classes C and D cater for 160BHP MGZR and MG F/TF

using tyres from the MSA list 1A/1B.

The points structure allows any driver in any of the

classes to become overall Champion.

Friendly and helpful off track, but highly competitive on

track. The MG Trophy is undoubtedly the most cost
effect and entertaining Championships in the UK.
Sponsors in Motorsport

There are plenty of marketing opportunities for

sponsoring Alastair Rushforth. Although not receiving
the same level of media attention or spectator interest
as high profile sports such as British Tourning Car
Championship the same marketing principals apply.

Sponsors can use car racing for:

- exposure and awareness
- promotional activity
- image building
- media campaigns
- addressing a specific target audience
- corporate hospitality

The most effective way to use car racing

sponsorship is to base it around strong brand
identification, on the driver and the car, then
use photographs in advertising and marketing
materials. Promotional activity at race events is also
effective in addressing spectators.

Overview
My Plans for 2010, What I would like from you and what you can
expect in return …

Having come close to the overall Championship in 2007 and

2008, my main aim for 2010 is to become the overall Champion
in the MGCC MG Trophy. By achieving this goal, I am hoping to
be able to attract further sponsors which in turn would help pave
the way of reaching my long term goal in competing in the
British Touring Car Championship.

With help from yourselves, I am confident that by doing the entire

season in the MG Trophy, we can win the Championship overall
and gain valuable exposure for both your company and myself
which in turn will hopefully attract further support to help in the
progression to the Elf Renault Sport Clio Cup which is regarded
by most as the feeder Championship to the BTCC.

In return for your support, I will make sure that the Race Car,
Transporter, Team Clothing along with my Race wear carry your
company logo. My own website with feature a link to any site you
may have. Both myself and Race car would be made available
for use at any function you may have to add that extra bit of
pizzazz as well as to show your association with my racing
exploits. I will also be getting regular exposure in the local press,
local radio stations as well as BBC Oxford, again reference to
your company and support will be made at every opportunity.

Throughout the season I will keep any supporters up-to-date on

our progress and results via E-newsletters. All supporters will be
issued with race tickets to any races they chose to attend, and
all visitors will be looked after by myself and my team. I will be
more than happy to speak to guests, show them how the car and
team operate as well as being able to offer everyone the
opportunity to view the racing from the pit wall, an area that is
normally unaccessible to the general public.
