REPORT OF

STRUCTURE CALCULATION OF
PROJECT NAMEPLATE

2014

A. STRUCTURE MODELING

Analysis of the structure of the Project Nameplate is done with SAP2000 Program Ver. 14.0.0
(Structural Analysis Program). The Project Nameplate design as shown in the following
figure.

Figure 1. Modeling Project Nameplate with
SAP 2000

B. DESIGN AND CODES STANDARDS

1) Codes AISC LRFD 99
2) Pedoman Perencanaan Pembebanan Untuk Rumah dan Gedung, PPPURG 1987
3) Profile Steel Table

C. TECHNICAL DATA

Height = 4 m
Width = 1,2 m
Facing = 1 face
Quality steel = BJ 37
Connecting Tools = Welding
The minimum tensile strength (fu) = 370 MPa
Minimum yield stress (fy) = 240 MPa
The main column profiles, = 4 inch pipe, 4,5 mm Thickness
Beam Down, hollow = 40 x40x3
Beam Down, L profil = 40 x40x4

Profile types are used:

D. LOAD COMBINATION

The combination of loading that work is as follows:

Figure 3. Type of Load Patterns

a. 1.4 D
b. 1.2 D + 1.6 L
c. 1.2 D + 0.5 L + 0.8 Wind
d. 1.2 D + 0.5 L 0.8 Wind

The combination of load on the input to SAP on show in the following figure.

E. LOAD CALCULATION

Dead Load

Dead load is the load that a constant load on the structure, in this case is a steel frame. The
software will perform calculations directly / automatically for this. Dead load acting on the structure
of the considered load point centered at each joint.

Live Load

Live load is the load that a load of workers and equipment are carried at the time of installation and
maintenance. Workers at the time of installation of the Project Nameplate rested on the floor /
ground so as not to burden the Project Nameplate.

Wind Load

Based PPIUG (Indonesian Loading Regulation for Building) coefficients for the wind that works is:
Wind Pressure = 0,8 kN/m2

Then charged zinc plate that covers the area of the Project Nameplate area of 2 m x 1,2 m.

F. ANALYSIS OF STRUCTURE

Calculation to be used is by Design - Steel Frame Design - View / Revise Preferences.
Then select AISC LRFD 99.

Due to the three (3)-dimensional structure is analyzed, then select the Options Analysis with
Space Frame as shown below.

G. OUTPUT OF STRUCTURE ANALYSIS

To view the ability of the structure to receive the load can be done by Design Steel Frame
Design - Start Design / Check of Structures. Furthermore, the program shows the ratio of
columns and beams. The ratio of the column and the beam must be smaller than 1. And
overall, the model.

The structure shows a ratio smaller than 1, so the design declared safe.

H. CONTROL OF CALCULATION

The next stage is to check the deflection that occurs in the structure of Project Nameplates,
as follows:

Deflection checks

Deflection that occurs due to various combinations of loading can be determined by the way
the program SAP2000, Display - Show Deformed Shapes as show in the following figure:

Figure 10 Deformation of Structures Due to Dead Load, Live Load and wind load

Control of deflection:
Deflection values < deflection allowed
5,3 mm <1/300 x 4000 = 6.67 mm (OK)

I. CONCLUSION

After analysis, the results that have been done, it can be concluded that the structure is safe
and capable Project Nameplate accept various combinations of loading : dead load, live load
and wind load.
