Thank you for choosing Premier. Your new instrument has been made to high Always work on opposite tension rods when tuning your drums
standards and, like all Premier products, will give you years of service with
the minimum need for adjustment and attention.

 Assembly Method - Toms and Snare
• Now move onto your floor tom. Stand the floor tom shell vertically with the leg brackets towards the
floor. Place the drum head with the logo onto the bearing edge followed by the steel ring. As with the
bass drum, you should now thread the tension rods through the washers and into the swivel nuts for
each lug, making sure each tension rod is finger tight. Turn the drum over and repeat this process
before tuning with the drum key. (Fig.C5)
• Once you have fitted the drum heads and rings to your floor tom you will need to insert the floor tom
legs. With the floor tom upside down, insert the floor tom legs into the leg brackets with the
rubber feet facing upwards and so that the angle of the leg moves out from the drum. You should
secure the legs about halfway up. Then turn the drum over and stand on its legs. (Fig.C6)
• Slide a memory lock onto each arm of the tom holder. Leave these loose for now. Take one tom and
slide this over the tom holder arm. Tighten the wing nut on the tom bracket to secure the tom. You can
alter the playing position of the drum by loosening the tom holder arm and angle accordingly. Once you
are happy with the position tighten all wing nuts and move the memory lock up underneath the tom
bracket and tighten. Repeat with the other tom. (Fig.C7)
• Assemble the snare drum stand by opening the tripod base and tightening the wing nut once in the
correct position. Open the snare cradle and place the snare drum onto the stand. Tighten the cradle
underneath to grip the snare drum once in place. (Fig.C8)

Assembly Method - Hardware
• Insert the beater shaft into the bass drum pedal as shown and tighten with your drum key.
The length of shaft should allow for the beater to make contact in the centre of the head.
Clamp the bass drum pedal onto the wood hoop of the bass drum. (Fig.C9)
• Assemble the hi-hat. The hi-hat pull rod must be fixed into the threaded section of the lower section
first. Then slide the upper tube of the hi-hat stand over the pull rod and tighten into position.

• Place your bottom hi-hat on the rubber seat of the hi-hat stand. Then, assemble the hi-hat clutch
around the top cymbal making sure that there is a rubber washer on either side of the top cymbal.

• Assemble the boom stands to a suitable playing height. The stand features a disappearing boom
section that offers the option of a straight or boom stand. Place your cymbal onto the cymbal stand
ensuring there is one felt washer still in place. Then replace the felt washers and wing nut as shown.

Tuning the Snare Drum
• Tighten all the tension rods with your fingers first until you can’t tighten them
anymore (this applies to all heads).
• For a responsive snare snap, the snare head should be tightened right up. If you can
push the head in with your fingers then the head is not tight enough but go
easy at first. You are not looking for a note here but tension.
• Once you are happy with the tension on the snare head move onto the batter head.
• The batter head is more personal to the sound that you want to gain. Start to tighten the rods with
a drum key on opposite rods. Always work in opposites and never tension the drum in a clockwise
motion. Remember to leave the snares off.
• As the head becomes tighter, start to play the drum all over the head until you reach a sound that
pleases you.
• When you’ve got the sound, tap the head by each tension rod to get an even pitch all around the
drum.
• Don’t over tighten the snares as this will only choke the drum. Lightly buzz the stick at the edge of
the drum, if you get no snare response then the snares are too tight. Loosen the snares off until the
drum comes to life.
Before you begin to assemble your new Cabria drum set you will need to unpack the two boxes.
• Start by assembling the bass drum. Place the bass drum vertically with the shell edge touching the
floor and the badge facing the correct way. Place the black display head (with white Premier logo) onto
the drum shell followed by the bass drum hoop. Position the head so that when assembled, the logo
runs horizontally across the drum.
• Place the claw hooks onto the bass drum hoop in line with the lugs. Thread the tension rods through
the washers and into the swivel nuts for each lug. (Fig.C1) Ensure that each tension rod is finger tight
before tuning with the drum key. (Fig.C2)
• Turn the drum over and repeat this process with the remaining drum head and bass drum hoop.
• Loosen the bass drum spurs and turn them around to face the floor at the front of the bass drum
(with the black display head). Make sure the spurs are locked into their grooves. You should then
extend the spur rods so that they are equal in length and the front of the bass drum is about an inch
off the floor. (Fig.C3)
• Insert the tom holder into the bass drum bracket so that the arms face towards the drummer. The
height of this can be adjusted once you have both drums in place. (Fig.C4)

Tuning the Toms

• Always ensure your bearing edges and hoops are thoroughly cleaned and the tension rods oiled
(just a drop).

• Tighten the tension rods down to finger tight.

• Start with the smallest drum on the bottom head. Before tuning press the centre of each head with
the heel of your hand. This helps to seat the head on the bearing edge.

• Tighten the rods in opposites but go easy. You are looking for the ripples to disappear and the drum
to have a slight ring.

• Repeat the above processes with the top head.

• The bottom head will now have lost it’s ring so go back to this and tweak until the head comes back
to life. Again go back to the top and repeat.

• There will come a point when the bottom head stays in, from here just work on the top head. (Fig. C1) (Fig. C2)

The end result should be good tone, neither too tight or too loose with a slight pitch bend. Always
be patient as this can take time and experimentation.

Tuning the Bass Drum

• Use the same method to tune as per the Toms. Never turn the screws fully, take it easy and tighten
up gradually.

• Get a good ring off the front head (with the logo) with a nice deep tone then work on the
batter head.

• Try to get a ‘slappy’ sound but this will depend on the beater type. Experimentation is often good to
achieve the sound you want.
