Cloud Based SCADA

system for the Oil &

Gas Industry
Cloud-based SCADA
system for the Oil & Gas
industry
Typical architecture
Thin Client Stations
Online Data, Dashboards,
History Charts, Reports, and so
forth
Cloud-based
Online + History information
(Microsoft SQL Server)

Cloud computing:
Convenient, on-demand network
access to a shared pool of
configurable computing resources
(e.g., networks, servers, storage,
applications, and services) that can
be rapidly provisioned and released
with minimal management effort or
service provider interaction
Basic Concepts
Essential Characteristics
On-demand Self-service
Broad Network Access
Resource Pooling
Rapid Elasticity
Measured Service
Deployment Models

Hybrid Cloud
Service Models
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
Platform as a Service (PaaS)
Software as a Service (SaaS)
Main Benefits
Economic Benefits
Better Agility
Greater Accessibility
Improved Reliability
Superior Security
Database Models
SCADA
(InduSoft Web Studio)
Primary
Database
(MS SQL Server)
Secondary
Database
(MS SQL Server)
Redundant: In this mode, IWS saves
data in both Primary and Secondary
Databases. If one of these databases is
unavailable, IWS keeps saving data only
in the database that is available. When
the database that was unavailable
becomes available again, IWS
synchronizes both databases
automatically.

Store and Forward: In this mode, IWS
saves data in the Primary Database
only. If the Primary Database becomes
unavailable, IWS saves the data in the
Secondary Database. When the Primary
Database becomes available again, IWS
moves the data from the Secondary
Database into the Primary Database.

by PML and by the end user
PML EDGE - Benefits
With the EDGE System, PML innovated
and leveraged the technology provided
by InduSoft as an enabler for their core
competency (well drilling) and created a
sustainable competitive advantage in its
industry.
PMLs ability to share, in real time over the web,
information that includes wellbore
characteristics such as gamma ray, liberated
gas components, lithology, penetration rates
and directional information with key
stakeholders will add significant value to their
suit of evolving solutions.
