SPRING LAKE The squirrel fell out of the tree during the first act of Wil-

liam Shakespeares Loves Labours Lost, pawing the air for a good 15
feet before it landed in the lap of a woman absorbed in the play. The
terrified animal, apparently upended when the branch it was sleeping on
gave way, delivered a blood-curdling screech, jumped to the ground, and
quickly exited the scene, stage left.
Youve heard of Shakespeare in the
Park? This was more like Shakespeare in
the Wild. The Bard himself couldnt have
choreographed it any better.
To her credit, the woman brushed off
the squirrel as if it were a mere mosqui-
to, and moments later was engrossed in
the play again.
They do love their Shakespeare here,

toward its destination at the Atlantic Highlands Muni-
cipal Harbor, slowly passing a resting charter vessel
being hosed off by a crew member and a pair of plea-
sure boaters heading out to Sandy Hook Bay to enjoy
the summer sun.
Twenty-one months ago, after superstorm Sandy de-
stroyed the marina, it would have been difficult to pic-
ture a scene like this.
Sandys storm surge uprooted pilings, snapped piers
and washed a couple hundred boats yachts and din-
ghys alike from the bay and onto the blacktop. The
