ACCEPTANCE POLICY
All advertising is sub|ect to approval by the acceptance
committee. 1he committee reserves the right to refuse
any advertising that does not meet 1he Kansan's stand-
ards of acceptance. Any ad dealing with a politically or so-
cially controversial issue will be sub|ect to the approval of
the committee. 1he committee shall be made up of the
Advertising Director and the Petail Sales Manager. Only
publication of an ad denotes acceptance by 1he Kansan.
1he advertiser and/or advertising agency agrees to de-
fend and indemnify 1he Kansan against any and all li-
ability, loss or expenses arising from claims of libel, un-
fair competition, unfair trade practices, infringement
of trademarks, copyrights, trade names, patents or pro-
prietary rights of privacy resulting from the publication
of the advertiser's ad. Ads that look like editorial mate-
rial must have the word "advertisement" printed above
them. 1he Kansan reserves the right to insert the words
"paid advertisement."
TERMS OF PAYMENT
Statements are mailed on the hrst of the month follow-
ing publication. All accounts are due and payable by the
30th of the month following publication. All accounts
more than 30 DAYS PAST DUE will be granted additional
advertising only at the discretion of the Business Man-
ager and the Sales & Marketing Advisor. Any advertiser
whose billing becomes 50 DAYS PAST DUE will not be
able to advertise until the balance is paid in full. All ad-
vertising must be paid in advance until the advertiser
had established credit with 1he Kansan. 1o receive cred-
it, the business must be established in the advertised lo-
cation for at least one year and pass a credit evaluation.
1he Kansan reserves the right to require prepayment
for any ads. All out-of-state advertisers must prepay for
advertising in cash or by check, money order or certihed
check unless the ads are prepaid through a recognized
advertising agency or a national representative.

One tear sheet per ad is provided with monthly bill for
display advertising. Up to three tear sheets will be pro-
vided upon request. Additional tear sheets and copies
of bills will be provided for a nominal charge.
Advertisers and agencies forwarding orders to 1he
Kansan that contain incorrect rates or conditions are
hereby advised that the advertising called for will be in-
serted and charged at the regular schedule of rates and
conditions in ehect at the time the advertising runs.
Advertisers are sub|ect to full Kansan policies. Contact

lf an advertisement is cancelled after deadline 1he
Kansan reserves the right to charge up to S0% of the to-
tal cost of the space reservation.
CONTRACTS & RATES
Kansan contacts are for a rate level, and 1he Kansan
may make periodic ad|ustments to the rate in each lev-
el. Current contract holders will be notihed in writing 30
days prior to any rate ad|ustment, except in the case of
changes made after fulhlment or exemption of a con-
tract, when new rates may be in ehect. 1he Kansan will
provide 30 days notice, in writing at least 1S days prior
to the ehective date of the new rates.
Advertising published by 1he Kansan that contains
copy, illustrations, or both created, in whole or part, by
the stah of 1he Kansan, is covered under the copyrights
thereof and shall remain the exclusive property of 1he
Kansan. Peproduction cannot be made without specihc
written consent. 1he Kansan reserves the right to insert
its copyright mark in such advertisements.
