Book: Essential Elements 2000 Book 1
*Be sure to get the book that corresponds to your childs instrument

Notebook: 1 Three ring - View Binder -BLACK (insert page in front)

Dividers: 5 dividers for Notebook

Pencils/Pens: Pencils are required in class every day. Pens may be used on assignments, but never on music!

Cleaning Cloth: To wipe off the strings and instrument after playing (Old plain tee-shirts work well also)

Rosin: All students need rosin to match their instrument including Cello and Bass. Cello and Bass could
purchase a pencil pouch for notebooks to keep up with rosin and cleaning cloths.

Rock Stop/Cello Strap: Cello may use either one; Bass needs rock stop for endpin

Shoulder Rest: Violin and Viola students need to purchase a shoulder rest. (REQUIRED!)

Extra Strings: Strings Break! You may want to have an extra set on hand! You may leave extra strings at home,
but we can replace at school. No need to go back to the shop. Some rental plans provide string
replace. Talk with your instrument dealer while purchasing or renting.

Classroom Supply: Please Pick ONE: Pack of Dry Erase Markers, Box of tissues, Hand Sanitizer, Box of Pencils (12
or more), (3 or more) Packs of Notebook Paper, or make monetary donation to Strings
Department to purchase new music (we receive no money to purchase new music: a new piece
costs from $40 to $75- any amount would be greatly appreciated!) Fundraisers may also be
scheduled to help with this expense.
For Home: Music Stand and Tuner (I like the Snark SN-2 or search for tuner on your smartphone apps.)
Students are encouraged to bring instruments on August 25 and are required to have instruments by September 2.
