This ensures that the information reaches all those who it is relevant to while saving you time and
resources.
Administrator interface
Those with Administrator and Editor rights will have the ability to create and control your account at a
higher and more sophisticated level than end users.
Knowledge Management Capabilities
You can annotate sponsors, programmes and funding opportunities records with guidance, internal
deadlines or mentors. This means that all the key internal information relating to pre-proposal activity can
be stored on the system and easily retrieved, thereby crystallising a lot of tacit knowledge that is
currently fragmented or lost within the institution.
Detailed usage reports
You are able to run detailed usage reports to gain a view of the quantity and quality of usage within the
institution.
Workgroup hierarchies
Administrators & Editors can organise your account to have various workgroup hierarchies and this is a
great way of capturing and sharing the knowledge of experts within any given department or faculty. Each
workgroups can be assigned an editor or administrator who can create saved searches or other relevant
content for that workgroup, which only members of that workgroups can see. Members of that work groups
can then save those searches onto their own personal accounts and set up alerts to receive new funding
opportunities matching the same search criteria. Remember, once the alerts are set up, the researchers
dont need to keep re-running the searches are they will automatically receive funding grants matching
that exact criteria each week! The work groups also ensure that the information researchers are receiving
is directly relevant to them!

Online web calendars
You can create a calendars based on your saved search. By the click of a button, you can diarise all of the
closing dates for the funding opportunities search. That calendar can be displayed as a webpage and/or
downloaded as a PDF. You can also subscribe to a calendar so every time we add new funding
opportunities matching the saved criteria of a calendar; your calendar is automatically updated! You can
also add the URL of a calendar to your internal webpages at the University if you wish.
iCal funding calendar feeds
You can also create iCal Calendar feeds which integrate with your own calendar programme at the
University such as Outlook, Google calendar etc. This allows you can view the funding deadline dates in
your own calendar system without having to log into Research Professional. You will be able to see a
summary of the finding opportunities and a link will be provided for you so you can log back to into
Research Professional to view the full information.
Content annotation
Administrators & Editors can annotate our content with your own internal information. For example, by
adding internal deadlines, appointing an internal mentor, adding your own URLs- directing researchers to
relevant information, adding internal notes and marking an opportunity as a high priority. The ability to
appoint your users as an internal mentor is particularly useful if you want to indicate who within your
institution has had success with applications to a particular sponsor and to whom you wish to direct more
junior researchers to! The ability to annotate our content is one way that the Networked functionality
features help capture the knowledge and the know-how within your institution and ensures that its
shared effectively!
Customisable user magazines
Administrators & Editors can create a magazine that is relevant to a particular faculty, department,
strategic theme etc. that would be relevant for that particular workgroup. So for example, you can create
a magazine for the Faculty of Social Science which would be relevant to everyone in that faculty. This
magazine can then be viewed online, or emailed to people or users can opt to subscribe to the magazine
which will be emailed to them every time a magazine is published. This again is an excellent way of
customizing our content to the requirements of your researchers so they will only ever see information
that is directly relevant to them.
Free Annual site visit
Your client service manager is happy to visit you at the University to provide training and/or discuss any of
your needs of the service as part of your Networked subscription.

calls that are relevant to them!

You would do this with support and guidance from our client service team and all we would need from you
to create personal user accounts are the names and email addresses of the individuals. We would then
