OVER VIEW INTO AMAZON MECHANICAL TURK

To understand Amazon Mechanical Turk, you should have thorough knowledge

about every aspect of this site. Learn here one by one clearly and confidently.

REQUESTER:

About 500 different requesters are available with different kinds of work tasks.
They give their required tasks and fix the reward for when the tasks are
completed as specified and required by the requester; a worker is paid some
reward as indicated for that task.

WORKER:

They are the registered users who are willing to complete the available tasks and
expecting the reward for that. This book focuses only about workers and their
benefits only.

VIEW A HIT IN THIS GROUP:

This is very important link; every job instruction will be given in this link. Every
task has its own instruction provided by the requesters. Before doing any job, a
worker should read the instruction and understand it – then proceed to do.

HITS:

The acronym "Hits" stands for "Human Intelligent Task". Available work called as

QUALIFICATIONS:

Some of the requesters want qualification test for doing their job. This test

These are the tasks that you actually finished on that day. There is no limit of
submission of tasks per day. You can submit hits as much as possible.

APPROVED TASKS:

These are the tasks that have been reviewed and accepted by the requesters
when you fulfilling their needs. Every requester will give the mentioned reward in
dollar value for every completed task respectively.

REJECTED TASKS:

When a requester is not satisfied by your work, he will reject you for reward. He
doesn't put any money in to your Mturk account for that particular task. But don't
panic about the rejection, it is easy to maintain only 2% of rejection out of 100
attempts. You can ask reason for the rejection to the respective requester.

PENDING TASKS:

These are the tasks under process and waiting for the result. Never mind, if any
delay, the reward will be given to you. Your task may be in queue, so this makes
some delay, may be one day. Unless it is rejected, your reward will be credited
into your account. It is not put as pending by you but a requester, simply it is
under review. Clear!

RETURNED TASKS:

These are the tasks deliberately returned by you. Some time you are in hurry, so
you are returning in between the task which is started but not completed. When
you click the returned button, that task goes to returned category in your dash
board. Avoid too many returns of tasks.

ABANDONED TASKS:

When you are working, some time the power may be gone, or while you give
submit the task, the browser shows that “the page cannot be displayed” or
Address not found”, in that case you will not be able to complete those task, so
these tasks are listed in abandoned category in dash board.

HIT EXPIRATION DATE:

This refers that how many days a particular hit will be available in the result page.

TIME ALLOTTED:

This refers that every task has to be completed in a specified time which is fixed
by every requester. They know how long will take to complete a task, say for 10
min, 20 min, or even 3 days according to the effectiveness and nature of the
tasks.

HITS AVAILABLE:

This refers total availability of the tasks. This will increase or decrease when the
users are working and fresh jobs are given by the requesters.

SEARCH BOX:

This box acts for searching a job by its name or the reward value. Say for, type
“find emails – click go or type $0.05 – click go. This will show you the respective
results.

REWARD:

A worker is paid by the requester for completed tasks, he will get his salary as in
dollars or cents etc.

ACCOUNT SETTINGS:

This is the place where you have to request for a cheque. Indians can withdraw
in rupees and foreigner can get a direct deposit from mturk. Here you have to
upload your pan or passport scanned copy.

ACCEPT:

This button has to be clicked when you thoroughly understand a particular job
instruction. Once you started below you can see a check box, you can do it
continuously as long as possible till that task is over, if you tick the check box.

SKIP:

This refers ignoring a task, when you are not comfortable by the work instruction,

PAYMENT PROCESS:

Every site has its own payment system and policy for releasing a commission
check. Mturk is sending a check after reviewing a workers Pan or Passport
scanned copy as one time process for verification. Then month on month a
worker can request a check. Minimum $5.00 should be reached for requesting a
check. Every check they issue will be deducted for $4.00 as process fees for
check.

For Indians they will receive a check in Indian Rupees, where as foreigner they
will get a direct deposit from amazon mechanical turk.

1. Sign in as worker.
