Americas Alternative Energy Future
In the coming decades America will need multiple sources of alternative energy. These
methods will need to be efficient, affordable, sustainable, and clean. To accomplish
this task America will need to explore every option to develop additional nuclear and
hydroelectric plants, as well as wind, solar, bio-mass, hydrogen, and geothermal forms
of energy.

Americas Independent Energy Future
More than 30 years after President Carter called for energy independence, America continues
to rely heavily on foreign sources of oil. There is little debate that America must become less
dependent on foreign oil, but this goal will be impossible without a commitment to alternative
sources of energy and investment in clean coal technologies, oil shale development, on-shore
and off-shore oil and natural gas exploration and drilling, and coal.
The United States national debt is now more than $13 trillion with an additional $1 trillion in
budget deficits further deepening that debt for the foreseeable future. Americans are once
again awakening to the danger chronic deficits pose not only to our national security but the
long-term viability of our Republic. The federal governments fiscal mismanagement is no longer
just a problem for Washington. Gubernatorial candidates in 2010 will preside over budgets in
2011 and 2012 depleted of stimulus dollars and in need of more revenue or sharp budget cuts.
The states are at a crossroads and will have no choice but to take drastic action in the years
ahead to stay on firm fiscal ground.
