Abstract In this paper it is been emphasised on the scheme proposing for cope on the planetary scarcity of conventional energy resources trends to be conscious or rather logical and economic to use the energy optimized form in Electrical drives utilization in industrial applications. Electrical drives like motors (dc shunt motor )are specially introduced as the eminent drives for industrial applications; specifically where speed and diligence are required.
Key word : Energy saving, speed control , energy optimization, power saving, operating point, stability, simulation
1. INTRODUCTION:
With the increase of complexity and diversity of energy sector, simultaneous application of different types of motors in industry has become a common feature. Among different types of drives, dc shunt motor is also an important because of its wide range of operational characteristics. With the increase of solid-state device, application of dc machines has increased to a great extent. Dc machines can be made suitable for various application of variety of volt-ampere and speed torque characteristics in both dynamic and steady state environment by different circuit connections like shunt, series, and separately excited field winding.
The specification of the motor used is: Rating: 5HP
Conclusion: In this work an attempt has been made to calculate the energy savings of a dc shunt motor in no load and under load condition by sacrificing its speed. In no load condition it has been found that 38% reduced of speed of a dc shunt motor, power savings can be achieved 66% which is very much optimistic in case of energy saving operation. In this work energy savings have been calculated in operation of a dc shunt motor and for this purpose one circuit have been developed in MATLAB environment. (Specification of dc shunt motor which is used for this purpose: 5 hp, 240V, 16.2 A, 1220 rpm.)
