The document proposes the design of a supersonic business jet with a range of 4,000 nautical miles and a cruise speed of Mach 2.1 at an altitude of 55,000-60,000 feet. The jet would carry 15 passengers and 4,000 pounds of payload and meet FAA regulations. It would have an estimated maximum takeoff weight of 90,000 pounds and be made of composite materials. The document includes details on the proposed jet's mission profile, including climb, cruise, descent, and landing phases over an estimated 4 hour mission time.

Due: September 22, 2014 Proposed Design We are proposing the design for a supersonic business jet with a long range of 4000 nautical miles. The jet is intended to have a cruise of Mach number 2.1 reaching an altitude of 55,000- 60,000 feet. The proposed jet will have a maximum non-expendable payload of 4000 pounds which is composed of 15 passengers and their baggage. The aircraft will meet Federal Aviation Requirement (Far-25). The jet should have a maximum take-off weight is estimated to be 90,000 pounds and made up of composite materials. Distance Factor Mission Profile Detailed description of each mission phase and the anticipated performance
A Start/Warm-up: The four F404-GE-100D engines are on and are warming up. There is no change in range or altitude. Total weight of the aircraft is 100,000 lbs. at start-up. Warm-up is 5 minutes and uses 587 lbs. of fuel bringing the total weight after the warm- up phase to 99,413 lbs.
B Taxi: During taxi there is slight maneuvering to position for take-off but there is still no change in altitude. Taxi time is 15 minutes which is the average time for passenger aircrafts. The total weight of the aircraft after Taxi is 98,533 lbs. after using a total of 1,467 lbs. of fuel.
C Climb: Represented is a climb at a 25 angle, with a ceiling of 60,000 ft. traveling a horizontal distance of 23.82 nautical miles. The aircraft will climb for approximately 13 minutes using a total of 5,378 lbs. of fuel bringing the total weight of the aircraft to 94,622 lbs.
D Cruise: The aircraft will cruise at a velocity of Mach 2.1 (1389.09 nmi/hr) for a duration of 2.86 hours at a constant altitude of 60,000 ft. and a horizontal distance of 3,976.18 nautical miles. The total fuel burned up to this section is 45,681 lbs. of fuel bringing the aircrafts total weight to 54,319 lbs.
E Descend: Engines are turned off, vertical descent for approximately 13 minutes, no credit is given to fuel burned or horizontal distance. Weight remains constant at 54,319 lbs.
F Loiter: Loiter for 9 minutes, slightly maneuvering positioning for landing but no credit is given for distance. The total fuel burned up to this phase is 46,209 lbs. bringing the total weight of the aircraft to 53,791 lbs.
G Land: Landing gear down, engine throttle down for duration of 9 minutes, again there is no credit given to distance. Mission total time of approximately 4 hours with a total of 46,737 lbs. of fuel burned. At landing the aircrafts total weight is 53,263 lbs.
