Preface:Production scheduling is the phase of production management that produces.a detailed
description of operations to be executed in a given period of time, typically short.
Production planning instead is characterized compared to production scheduling, by an
higher level of abstraction and a longer time period of interest. In most manufacturing
systems the two main objectives to be achieved in production planning and scheduling
are the maximization of the total value produced by the plant and the on-time delivery of
the nal products.
These two objectives are often in conflict with each other. Compared to ther
manufacturing processes, the pharmaceutical industry gives higher importance to on-time

RECRUITMENT
Recruitment refers to the process of attracting, screening, selecting, and onboarding a
qualified person for a job. At the strategic level it may involve the development of
an employer brand which includes an "employee offering".
The stages of the recruitment process include: job analysis and developing some person
specification; the sourcing of candidates bynetworking, advertising, and other search
methods; matching candidates to job requirements and screening individuals using testing
(skills or personality assessment); assessment of candidates' motivations and their fit with
organizational requirements by interviewing and other assessment techniques. The
recruitment process also includes the making and finalizing of job offers and the
induction andonboarding of new employees.[1]
Depending on the size and culture of the organization, recruitment may be undertaken inhouse by managers, human resource generalists and/or recruitment specialists.
Alternatively, parts of the process may be undertaken by either public-sector employment
agencies, commercial recruitment agencies, or specialist search consultancies.
Sources of recruitment
The sources of recruitment are broadly divided into internal sources and external sources
consisting of the following:
Page 47
Campus Recruitment: These candidates are directly recruited by the Co; from
Page 48
Exchanges in the country to provide information about vacancies to the candidates and to
help the organization in finding out suitable candidates. As per the Employment
Exchange act 1959, makes it obligatory for public sector and private sector enterprises
inIndia to fill certain types of vacancies through public employment exchanges.
maintain complete bio-data of their members and provide the same to various
organizations on requisition. They act as an exchange between their members and
recruiting firm.
Data Banks: The management can collect the bio-data of the candidates from
Walk In: The busy organization and rapid changing companies do not find time to
perform various functions of recruitment. Therefore they advise the potential candidates
V M PATEL COLLEGE OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES, KHERVA
Page 49
10 Body Shopping: Professional organizations and the hi-tech training develop the
pool of human resource for the possible employment. The prospective employers contact
these organizations to recruit the candidates. Otherwise the organizations themselves
approach the prospective employers to place their human resources. These professional
and training institutions are called body shoppers and these activities are known as body
shopping. The body shopping is used mostly for computer professionals. Body shopping
is also known as employee leasing activity.
Page 50
Selection Tests: Jobseekers who past the preliminary interviews are called for
tests. There are various types of tests conducted depending upon the jobs and the
company. These tests can be Aptitude Tests, Personality Tests, and Ability Tests and are
conducted to judge how well an individual can perform tasks related to the job. Besides
this there are some other tests also like Interest Tests (activity preferences), Graphology
Test (Handwriting), Medical Tests, Psychometric Tests etc.
3.
are conducted to verify the information provided by the candidates. Reference checks can
be through formal letters, telephone conversations. However it is merely a formality and
selections decisions are seldom affected by it.
5.
Selection Decision: After obtaining all the information, the most critical step is
the selection decision is to be made. The final decision has to be made out of applicants
who have passed preliminary interviews, tests, final interviews and reference checks. The
views of line managers are considered generally because it is the line manager
required to undergo a physical fitness test. A job offer is often contingent upon the
candidate passing the physical examination.

7.
Job Offer: The next step in selection process is job offer to those applicants who
have crossed all the previous hurdles. It is made by way of letter of appointment.

MARKETING DEPARTMENT
INTRODUCTION
Marketing is the process of communicating the value of a product or service
to customers, for the purpose of selling that product or service.
From a societal point of view, marketing is the link between a societys material
requirements and its economic patterns of response. Marketing satisfies these needs and
wants through exchange processes and building long term relationships. Marketing can
be looked at as an organizational function and a set of processes for creating, delivering
and communicating value to customers, and managing customer relationships in ways
that also benefit the organization and its shareholders. Marketing is the science of
choosing target markets through market analysis and market segmentation, as well as
understanding consumer buying behavior and providing superior customer value.
There are six competing concepts under which organizations can choose to operate their
business: the production concept, the product concept, the selling concept, the marketing
concept, the societal marketing concept and the holistic marketing concept. The four

FINANCE DEPARTMENT
INTRODUCTION
This department is of utmost importance as it is responsible for financial planning, thus
ensuring that adequate funds are available for achieving the objectives of the
organization. Moreover, it is the finance department which makes sure that the prices are
controlled, besides looking after the cash flow and controlling profitability levels. One of
the most important jobs of the finance department of a company is to identify the
necessary financial information (like return on assets, return on capital employed or the
net profitability which reveal the outcome of efforts made by the company and its
employees) which should be revealed to managers so that they can make informed
decisions and judgments. The department is also responsible for making financial
documents and preparing the final accounts so that they can be presented in the annual
general meetings of the company.

Financial Ratio
When computing financial ratios and when doing other financial statement analysis
always keep in mind that the financial statements reflect the accounting principles. This
means assets are generally not reported at their current value. It is also likely that many
brand names and unique product lines will not be included among the assets reported on
the balance sheet, even though they may be the most valuable of all the items owned by a
company.
These examples are signals that financial ratios and financial statement analysis have
limitations. It is also important to realize that an impressive financial ratio in one industry
might be viewed as less than impressive in a different industry.
Our explanation of financial ratios and financial statement analysis is organized as
