Very low TVOC

emissions
WHERE TO USE
Ultrabond Eco VS90 is a universal, high temperature
solvent-free, non-staining acrylic adhesive in water
dispersion, formulated in an easily trowellable paste,
with very low emissions of volatile organic
compounds (EMICODE EC 1).
It is non-flammable and contains no toxic
substances; it can therefore be stored without
special precautions and presents no health hazard
during use.
Some application examples
Ultrabond Eco VS90 can be used for:
interior installation of homogeneous and
heterogeneous vinyl sheet and tile, semi-flexible
vinyl and PVC tiles, polyurethane, polyester and
PVC backed carpets, woven, secondary backed
and neadlepunch carpets, rubber tile and sheet;
on all normal absorbent and moisture stable
substrates used in construction.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Preparing the substrates
All phases of the installation should comply with the
latest editions of British Standards.
The sub-floor should be clean, free from any
contaminants and structurally sound. Any surface
additives that may hinder adhesion should be
removed. It should also have an effective damp-proof
membrane and be dry enough to receive a bonded
floor covering.
A British Standard approved test should give a
reading of 75% RH or less, if this has not been
achieved the use of MAPEI surface membrane will
suppress residual/static moisture in a power floated
concrete slab or sand/cement screed, provided that
a base dpm has been incorporated.
Acclimatisation
Before beginning the installation, make sure that the
adhesive, the material and the substrate are
acclimatised to the recommended temperature.
The material must be removed from any packaging
and laid out to permit acclimatisation and reduction
of tensions produced by packaging.
Smoothing/levelling compounds
Any cracks in the substrate should be filled with
Eporip and deep indentations repaired with
Nivorapid followed by the application of an
appropriate MAPEI smoothing/levelling compound.
On new uneven concrete, and/or impervious
substrates, the levelling/smoothing compound
should be applied at a minimum thickness of 3 mm.

EMICODE
GEV
Where a concrete base has had surface
treatment, this should be mechanically
removed prior to the application of the
levelling/smoothing compound.
Application onto porous surfaces
Ultrabond Eco VS90 should be spread
evenly over the floor surface with a
1.6 mm-V-notched (A2) trowel in a
sweeping motion with the trowel at an
angle of 60 and the floor covering placed
into the adhesive while it is still wet.
The open time varies from 30 to 40 mins,
though this depends on the ambient
conditions and porosity of the floor.
Application onto non-porous
surfaces
When laying onto non-porous or low
porosity surfaces, a suitable
levelling/smoothing compound should be
overlaid at a minimum thickness of 3 mm
to provide an absorption layer for the
Ultrabond Eco VS90.

Application can then proceed as for porous
surfaces.
Finishing
It is essential to ensure a good overall
contact between floor covering and
adhesive, therefore once the floor covering
has been laid, it should be rolled to ensure
the transfer of the adhesive onto the back
of the floor coverings.
Cleaning
Fresh adhesive can be cleaned off with
water.
Once hardened, the dried adhesive can be
cleaned off with Pulicol or white spirit.
CONSUMPTION
Consumption varies according to the
flatness of the substrate, the type of
backing material on the floorcovering and
the type of the trowel used.
Approximately 55 m per 15 kg using
an A2 Trowel.
Approximately 18 m per 5 kg using
an A2 Trowel.
PACKAGING
Ultrabond Eco VS90 is available in 5 and
15 kg buckets.
STORAGE
The shelf life of Ultrabond Eco VS90 is
12 months if stored in its original unopened
packaging.
