AMBI TI OUS BUT AI MLESS

Everyone is said to be ambitious though but not everyone achieves their ambitions. Ambition is a
strong desire of an individual to achieve a targeted goal. To many their ambition becomes a mirage
with time simply because of their aimlessness.
Many a time, it is pathetic to know that though many are impregnated with great ambitions but are
aimlessly ambitious. They never give birth to their ambitions rather some people have aborted
ambitions while many dies with their ambitions.
The questions is What could have been the cause of aborted ambitions? or Why could one
ambition go down the drain? Hundreds of reasons could be responsible for this but to mention a
few: aimlessness, wrong priority, peer pressure, misuse of technology, ignorance, procrastination,
poor time management, lack of planning, etc.
Join me as we examine a typical routine life style of a youth with lofty ambition but aimless and
directionless. Richard is a vibrant and energetic young chap. At 20years of age, he conceived an
ambition to be one of the renowned computer scientists in his generation. What a great ambition! He
secured admission into one of the best university in the country to study computer science which he
had desired. Good! Richard is a fan of Barcelona FC, a devoted member of the SUG and the Kegite
on campus. He wakes up late in the morning and retires to bed late in the night because no club
matches would ever escape him most especially when Barcelona is playing. Electricity outage could
not even stop him rather he goes to the viewing centre to watch the matches with his own money. At
his leisure, he would head to the newspaper vendors booth engaged himself in unproductive
arguments on the national daily headlines. He is ever ready to welcome every party invitation that
calls for him most especially at weekends. Come to social networks, Richard is on Twitter, Facebook,
Badoo, Instagram, WhatsApp, 2go, BBM, etc. On his cell phone are hundreds of both America and
Nigerian films. To cut the long story short, Richard graduated with third class honour with little or no
skill that could enable him realise his dream. He ended up as a half-baked graduate, who could not
write a simple program using Java, Visual Basic, C++, etc. not to talk of boasting of acquiring any
professional certifications (CCNA, Oracle, etc) in his course of study. Tell me how realistic it is for
Richard to achieve his ambition in life. I do not need a soothsayer to know that Richard has failed in
his quest to be a renowned computer scientist.
At this juncture, suffice me to say that there is nothing wrong with joining social networks, reading
the dailies, watching football matches, going to party and watching films. Setting the priority right is
key to achieving ones ambition, Richard failed to realise that he needed to make his ambition topmost
priority. Time management is essential ingredient in the balance of various activities; time must be
allotted to different task for each day bearing in mind that your ambition need more time than others.
Conclusively, I will recommend to every reader of this short and concise piece of write-up to as a
matter of necessity imbibe the following guidelines in tracking their ambition from the very first day
of conception to the point of achievement.

accessible always.

it. Avoid every form of distraction that could hamper your allotted time.

that could help in achieving your ambition.
