General
Fleet Management System is a web based software application. The design and
development of software for BSNL's Fleet (ehicle! Management System (FMS! is
prepared by "#o $%M &T 'ro(ect $ircle) BSNL) '*ne. The application enables to data
administrators at SS+ levels who can have access thro*gh dynamic web pages to manage
vehicle inventory) month wise history of costs on oil) f*el) etc.) and containing
instr*ctions and g*idelines for vehicles. The application also g*ide in asset management
by trac,ing vehicle records and planning to p*t scrapping#replacement sched*les)
wor,o*t fleet (*stification in f*t*re and the month wise record on private hiring vehicles
and e-pendit*re on them.
Software Environ,ents
The FMS software has (a! .TML as front end) (b! /avaScript for client side validation)
(c! '.' for server side scripting) (d! oracle01i as database and (e! Lin*- as operating
system.

Minim*m re2*irement for *ser side machine is that it sho*ld have 'enti*m0&& or better
config*rations with 34 MB 5+M and 6eb browser li,e &nternet 7-plorer 8.9 and above.

The *ser can access the application thro*gh internet on dial0*p#dedicated connection by
typing :5L http;##mis.bsnl.co.in or http;##<=9.<=<.<>?.@3 and clic, on Fleet Management
System lin, then the *ser will get login screen.
Login
(a! By accessing login page) he has to enter correct *sername and password and then *ser
can *se the application.
(b! &f *ser ma,es a mista,e while login in) he will be redirected to the login page with
Ainvalid loginB message.

3e0i'le Detail4 The necessary information regarding vehicle sho*ld be started from
ve0i'le detail form. "nce the registration no.(e.g. EL9=+N9<?9! entered in this form)
then that registration no. appears in the later forms. %enerally) registration n*mber of
vehicle sho*ld be entered li,e this; EL9=+N9<?9. 7nter date of registration of vehicle in
the form of DD-MM-YYYY (e.g.9=0980<998!. This date format is same everywhere in the
software. The *ser of this pac,age has provided the calendar to choose the date in dd0
mm0yyyy format. "nce ma,e of vehicle is selected) models of that ma,e appear in the list
of model. 7*ro standard or stat*s of vehicle can be selected from m*ltiple options.
$ontrolling a*thority of vehicle and designation may be entered as per the availability.
'rogressive r*n in CM (Cm r*n from the date of p*rchase till0to0date! and progressive
cost in 5s. (e-pendit*re occ*rred on maintenance excluding f*el) oil till data entry!)

3e0i'le %*r'0ase Entry4 Select registration no. (e.g.EL9=+N9<?9! from the drop down
of registration no. list. 7ntries for cost of p*rchase (in 5s.!) date of p*rchase which are
mandatory to fill. &nitial Meter 5eading (in Cm! at the time of p*rchase) dealer name)
remar,s for the vehicle can be entered.
3e0i'le .T Entry4 Select registration no. (e.g.EL9=+N9<?9! from the drop down of
registration no. list. Select the state for registration of vehicle. Select the road ta- type and
enter road ta- paid in 5s. The date entered for ta- validity sho*ld be later than today's
date.
3e0i'le $ns*ran'e Entry4 Select registration no. from the drop down of registration no.
list. Select ins*rance company name and ins*rance type from the drop down list for
vehicle. 7nter ins*rance paid in 5s.) ins*rance policy no and f*t*re ins*rance validity
date and s*bmit the entries.
3e0i'le "ontrol!Allot,ent4 Select registration no. from the drop down of registration
no. list. 7nter "fficer's name) designation and allotment date) if vehicle is allotted to the

b*tton '0e'5 for s*rrendered date and then enter s*rrendered date and s*bmit the

S'rapping Date Entry4 &n f*t*re) when vehicle is scrapped) select registration no. of
scrapped vehicle from the drop down of registration no. list. 7nter scrapping cost in 5s.

#a( .*nning $nfor,ation of 3e0i'le &f SS+ +dmin is filling the monthly transaction
entries for his SS+) then he has to as, the $ircle +dmin for the month and year from
where the monthly transaction sho*ld start. The transaction month and year will be the
same for the $ircle "ffice and all of its SS+s.
The application will not allow leaving a month's gap witho*t transaction of data that
means every month's monthly transaction sho*ld be s*bmitted. The +dmin has to select
the r*nning detail men* from .istory Sheets and then has to select registration no) year
and month (allotted by $ircle +dmin to his SS+!. +ll SS+s of the $ircle incl*ding $ircle
"ffice will have the same year and month as start *p to ma,e the transaction of r*n detail
and hired vehicle entries.
#b( E6pendit*re Detail of 3e0i'le
#7( E6pendit*re on F*el4 The SS+ +dmin can s*bmit his monthly transaction for the
f*el entry. The +dmin has to select the registration no for which the monthly f*el entry is
to be made. &N no is a*tomatically selected. The bill no) bill date) f*el#oil details) their
rates) meter readings at the time of last and c*rrent filling of f*el) oil co name) cost of
yellow cloth) name of f*el station all these entries can made for this transaction.
#8(E6pendit*re on Maint!.epair The SS+ +dmin can s*bmit his monthly transaction
for the maintenance#repair entry. The +dmin has to select the registration no for which
the monthly maint#repair entry for which &N no is a*tomatically selected. The maint
date) meter reading on maint date) bill no) bill date) charges for service) labo*r) spare
parts) misc.) name of wor,shop) fa*lt reason all these entries can made for this
transaction.
#9(-ired 3e0i'le The SS+ +dmin can s*bmit his monthly transaction for the hired
vehicles. The +dmin has to clic, on hired vehicle men*) and then has to select the month
and year for which the monthly entry is to be made. The start *p month and year for hired
vehicle entry will be same as that start *p month for r*n detail of vehicle. This start *p
month and year is allotted from $ircle +dmin to his all SS+s. The +dmin has to feed the
monthly total no vehicles and e-pendit*re on them and has to s*bmit the details.
