Student Prerequisites
A basic knowledge of dies or the metal
stamping process is helpful.
A laptop computer with wireless internet
and Microsoft Office including Excel and
Power Point.
Three days with minimal outside
interruption.
Note: This is not a seminar.
This is a hands on die estimating course
where attendees will graduate with the
ability to plan and price dies.

Die types and construction.
Die and press specifications.
Metalforming and stock control elements.
Wire EDM and contour machining.
Sensors, automation and custom items.
Die plates and buildups.
Estimating part approval process.
Design and debug hours.
Establishing rates, profits and price.
Day 2 Die planning techniques
Interpreting part drawings
Creating flat blanks (with or without geometry
files.)
Part nesting for die type.
Progressive carrier strips.
Transfer and station die estimating.
Creating a die concept template using desktop
tools.
Completing the die concept drawing.
Day 3 Die Estimating
Practice estimating dies using attendee
sample parts.
Estimating material, labor and overhead.
Production part estimating.
Lean estimating techniques.
RFQs, quoting and target prices.
Customizing and calibrating the die estimating
system.
Quoting networks using the internet.
About the Instructor
The school is taught by Tool Planners
Founder and President, Jeff Bennett. Jeff is
