MEETING NOTES
Employer Survey
Peggy Blackmon presented a draft of an employer survey (enclosed) designed to obtain
the information we need to understand the Allied Health worker employment needs over the
next 5 years. We would then compare that information with available training resources and
determine the priority training capacity gaps. Following are the modifications that suggested be
made to the draft:
• Change the column heading “number currently needed” to “current unfilled
positions”
• Change “number needed” in the other columns to “forecast needs”
• Remove the “priority” column
• Add a column on the far right titled “Comments/Concerns/Barriers”
• Add “social worker” to the Occupation list
• Add a column at the bottom encouraging respondants to add any occupation
that they think is missing
We agreed to take the modified survey draft into the Joint Survey Team meeting as
representative of the information we need from employers.
Employer Survey List
Susan Hamilton presented an Allied Health employer list, using Columbus County as a
model, which she had subdivided into categories. She suggested that we use it to discuss an
approach for identifying employers to be surveyed within each of the counties. After significant
dialogue, we reached the following conclusions:
• Need to add “Hospitals” as a category
• Resource limitations will probably dictate that we limit new allied healthtraining
initiatives to the vital few.
• In light of the above, in limited resources and time on our part, we should limit
our survey focus to the 34 higher worker volume categories:
Hospitals
Long Term Care
Physician offices/clinics
Home Health/Health Dept.
• Subsequently, within each category, we should survey the larger employer and
extrapolate results for a category projection.
We agreed to take the above recommended strategy into the Joint Survey Team
meeting as our proposed approach for selecting employers to be surveyed.
Survey Process
We brainstormed logical steps for implementing the survey (once the final survey design
was completed). The attached flow diagram reflects our proposed process, which we will take to
the Joint Survey Team meeting.
Recruiting
Susan volunteered to try to recruit additional team members @ the 4/18 Coastal Alliance
meeting.
