Multi Degree Pick And Place Robot With Object Identification
Technology
Abstract
Robots and robotic systems are increasingly being used in various industries today, but most of
these robots are preprogrammed for certain movements and they keep repeating the same actions
over and over again without using any intelligence or any decision making ability. This greatly
reduces the functionality of a robotic system and hence even in the presence of robotic systems,
humans are needed to make decisions and perform any intelligent tasks that need to be performed.
In this project a intelligent robotic system will be made that can do lot of the functions that are done
by humans in a industrial set up. The robotic system comprises of a multi axis robotic arm that has
up to 5 degrees of freedom, enabling the robotic arm to make complex moving patters. This robotic
arm is controlled by a combination of an embedded system and a computer running an algorithm for
object identification.
The embedded system comprise of various sensors and transducers that detect the presence of a
object, measure the physical dimension of the object and also identify the primary color of the
object in the RGB space. Using all these details the computer algorithm identifies the object. The
robotic system can be preprogrammed with various movement patters for the segregation of
different identified objects in real time.
This system can find applications in various industries ranging from small scale industries to heavy
industries for handling objects and articles of varying physical properties. If required the robotic
system control can also be made wireless using any RF communication technology, wherein the
robotic arm can be in one location and the control system can be in a remote location.

Existing System
1. In the Existing system manpower is involved in transferring files and other materials from
one place to another
2. Due to some confusion wrong files may reach the person.

Proposed System
1. In the proposed system Robots are employed in industries for doing specific applications
2. The movement of the robot is autonomous, that is it can locate its position and travel on a
stored path.
