I can’t believe how fast the year has been flying in. Hopefully
my prayer letters are giving you a good insight into what all I
have been up to. I could never have imagined being able to do
what I am doing this year. Having the chance to study God’s
word and find answers to the questions I have always been too
afraid to ask because I’m finding that if Christianity is true
then the Bible is able to defend itself in all areas!
For your part in this year, so far, I will continue to owe you
thanks. Should you ever have any questions or want to hear
any more stories, feel free to contact me at any time.
Until then, I pray you would make this a memorable Christmas
not forgetting what Christ has done and giving thanks to Him
for the family and friends He has given you.

Tis the season to be jolly fa la la la la, la la la
la….
That’s right folks Christmas is on it’s way, the
smell of cinnamon lattes and roasted
chestnuts are tingling our noses. But what is
bringing real joy this christmas?
Abertay CU have studying the book of
Philippians together this semester in looking
at the theme of joy. Discovering that its not
the ho ho ho, happy clappy experience we
sometimes expect. Rather its a
deeper, more rooted assurance.
One of hope, not airy fairy or
blown about by the wind, but one
that is firm and secure because of
Jesus Christ- who He was, is and
claimed to be.
You see, at the time of year that
we come to celebrate His birth, we
remember the words that were
spoken (recorded by Luke in
chapter 2, verse 10)
“ Do not be afraid,, I bring you good news of great joy that will be
for all the people. Today in the town of David, a Saviour has been
born to you; he is Christ the Lord.”
What is this good news?! THE GOSPEL…. Jesus Christ as Lord!
Why? Because, if He is Lord then He reveals Himself over all creation- in and
through the realities of life that we face day-by-day. In a world caught up with
finding a hero, searching for the one inside ourselves, He is proving more
dependable, more faithful, more loving, more powerful and even more worthy to be
praised!
Relay Life Prayer in the
Having just finished the doctrine of God’s Word, it seemed only appropriate to be taught how to put it
Pray for the month ahead…
all together in a talk! This was the task given to us in our relay training days in November. Looking at
Scottish UCCF
the subject of apologetics: how we communicate and defend the message of the gospel.

We were split into 2 groups and after giving our talk were assessed and given feedback to know what 10 Relay Workers Scottish Staff/Relay
areas need to be improved upon. It did seem a bit daunting at first but it turned out to be a great way to Team Days
practically help and support eachother. The challenge being that we are able to give our talks in real
life-perhaps at a CU lunchbar or evangelistic event.

In fact, both Lizzie and myself had given ours within 48 hours of our training days! Lizzie, with a group with one another. Northern Ireland for
of our non-christian friends over dinner, and myself, a CU ceilidh event hearing that they had no Christmas to be with

Yet, not only was this method a great way of training for us, as relay workers, it was also one The New Year
of the ways we could equip the CU students at the Biblical Evangelism Conference (BEC) at
the start of Decemer. There were 10 students + 8 relay workers who attended, each, having to 2010!
prepare a talk from a passage in John. Robin Sydserff, a Church of Scotland minister from
Edinburgh, joined us to help give some training, but it was amazing to see how God was using 04/01/10
different personalities and styles to portray His message.
Relay Study Week
Pray that the students who took part would use their gifts of teaching in becoming strong 15/01/10
gospel leaders, that what they learned they would be able to share with their CU’s especially Scottish Team Day
as preparations are being made for Events weeks coming up in February. During this, the CU
host a whole week of evangelistic events, seeking to give every student an opportunity to hear 04/01/10
and respond to the message of Jesus Christ, Relay Two: training week in
Wales
