New Testament, Eerdmans, 1977. Un trabajo de erudicin, voluminoso y bueno,
pero se basa un poco demasiado en trabajos anteriores. Uno de los mejores
libros individualmente, incluye mucha literatura secundaria. Un buen libro de
referencia que debera ser suplementado por otro libro. (426 pgs).
2. G. B. Caird, The Revelation of St J ohn the Divine, Black's new testament
commentaries, A & C Black. 2nd Ed 1984. Un trabajo de erudicin que tiene
una buena comprensin de los apocalipsis. Mounce es una herramienta de
referencia mejor, pero Caird tiene mayor profundidad. (318 pgs).

Evanglico y erudito, un clsico de la escuela idealista (216 pgs).
4. William Barclay, The Revelation of J ohn, Westminster press, 1976. Un
comentario laico excelente y que vale la pena leer en dos partes, con mucho
material de trasfondo til sobre el imperio romano, devocional y prctico. Un
suplemento importante al material indicado ms arriba. (vol. 1 (Cap. 1-5) 183
pgs, vol. 2 (Cap. 6-22) 232 pgs.).
5. J ames B Ramsey, The book of Revelation: An exposition of the first eleven
chapters, Banner of Truth Trust, 1977, 518 pp. Un estudio piadoso y difcil para
el lector moderno, pero da la interpretacin ms espiritual de todos los
comentarios. Es una pena que no escribi sobre la segunda mitad de
Apocalipsis.
6. J P Sweet, Pelican, 1979, 361 pp. til para el erudito; gran parte est en forma
de notas.
7. George E Ladd: A commentary on Revelation, Eerdmans, 1971. Un comentario
excelente y que merece ser ledo (308 pgs).
8. G R Beasley-Murray, New Century Bible, 1981. Un estudio erudito (352 pgs).
9. H B Swete, The Apocalypse of St J ohn, Macmillan, 1906. Un clsico que
precedi apenas la publicacin del gigantesco trabajo de R. H. Charles. Se
requiere conocer griego, latn y varios otros idiomas europeos. Estrictamente
para el erudito. Por otra parte su ingls es conciso, preciso y excelente.

10. R. C. H. Lenski, Interpretation of Revelation, 1943, Augsburg Publishing House.
Erudito pero no muy fcil de leer. Conocer el griego sera ventajoso. (675 pgs).
11. Philip Edgcumbe Hughes, The book of the Revelation A commentary, 1990,
IVP. Un enfoque idealista amilenial, bien escrito y no demasiado acadmico, en
un estilo muy ameno, adecuado para el laico y un suplemento para el estudiante.
(242 pgs).
12. Homer Hailey, Revelation An Introduction and Commentary, 1979, The
Wakeman Trust, 438 pp. Tiene una seccin excelente sobre el trasfondo
histrico. Es especialmente bueno en el tratamiento del griego. Es un muy buen
comentario aunque no estoy de acuerdo del todo en su interpretacin.
13. William Milligan, The book of Revelation, The expositors bible, Hodder and
Stoughton, 1893, (392 pgs). Un breve comentario de los autores de la obra

Inc., Springfield, Missouri 65802. Incluye el texto griego, palabra por palabra,
junto a la traduccin inglesa y un comentario. Una ayuda excelente pero utiliza
su propio sistema numrico y no el de Strong, lo que significa que tiene que
comprar su diccionario Griego-Ingls de 6 tomos. Nota: el comentario fue

dispensacional, pero un recurso til.

premilenial; un enfoque erudito y no tan dogmtico como la mayora de los

Company, Grand Rapids, Michigan, 1957. Hay un comentario menor sobre
Apocalipsis pero hay tambin muchos comentarios adicionales eruditos sobre
varias interpretaciones, la cristologa, el mtodo escatolgico, el simbolismo,
trasfondo del AT, etc. lo cual lo convierte en una contribucin muy til. (220
pgs.)

pero bueno. Excelente valor por su dinero.
