~Community Donations and Volunteerism Positively Impacting JFL~
On Thursday, the Gov Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center received a donation of $3,500 from the Community Services Federation of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. The donation was received during a check presentation ceremony held at the Virgin Islands Cardiac Center on St. Croix.
JFL's VP of Clinical Services/Chief Nursing Officer Justa "Tita" Encarnacion thanked the Church attendees for their leadership and support. I, on behalf of our CEO, Dr. Kendall Griffith and the entire hospital staff would like to thank the Seventh Day Adventist Church for considering JFL, and in particular the Neonatal Unit as a benefactor in its efforts to provide valuable services to the community.
Church representatives present on Thursday included Dr. Henry Peters, Director of Community Services; Gertrude Roberts, Church Federation Leader; and other members.
Peters stated, On behalf of the Community Services Ministry of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, we find joy in making this donation to the Juan Luis Hospitals Neonatal Unit. We hope that in the future it will allow for newborn babies in our community to get the best care possible.
Roberts gave the $3,500 check to Juan Luis Hospital on behalf of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She stated how much of a pleasure it was for the organization to make this important donation to JFL.
The donated funds will be used to purchase infant car seats, baby clothing such as onesies, booties, caps, and blankets for those in need.
Faye John-Baptiste, JFL's Nurse Manager of Neonatal Unit was also present for the ceremony and expressed her appreciation and gratitude for the special donation.
The Juan Luis Hospital is committed to providing compassionate, quality care for all of its patients and thanks the Seventh Day Adventist Church for raising these funds for the benefit of the island's newborn infants. In so doing, the Church has provided another fine example of the power of this community to help make a difference.
