Another gay murder
victim in Baltimore
Less than three weeks after Tamala
Harris was charged in connection with
the stabbing death of her girlfriend
Tekeya Amanda Johnson in the 6000
block of Amberwood Road in Northeast
Baltimore, another murder involving a
gay couple allegedly occurred on Oct. 11.
Andre Nicholas, 28, who performed a
variety of handyman jobs at Club Bunns,
was found dead in the basement of his
boyfriends mothers home at the 2500 block
of Garrett Ave. Nicholas boyfriend of about
a year and a half, Jermaine Jackson, also 28,
was arrested and charged in the homicide.
According to police charging
documents, Jacksons mother told police
that the suspect was in the basement of
her house with a male friend when she
left the dwelling in the morning. She
reported that she returned home around
6 p.m. to cook dinner when her son came
up from his room in the basement telling
her there was a dead body in his bed.
Jackson then told his mother to get
important papers together because they
needed to leave the house. When she asked
what happened, Jackson told his mother,
he choked and stabbed Nicholas because
the victim wanted him to do something
he didnt want to do, police wrote in the
documents. What that alleged request
entailed has not yet been identied.
The mother walked partway down the
steps and saw what she believed was a
body wrapped in plastic on Jacksons
bed. She then called police and the re
department. Upon arriving at the scene,
police discovered a male wrapped in a
sheet and plastic suering from apparent
stab wounds. Nicholas was pronounced
dead at the scene.
A photo of the corpse was posted on
Jacksons Facebook page then removed
following protests from the victims
friends. Police are reportedly investigating
how the photo was posted during the
time Jackson was in custody.
Mark McLaurin, a close friend of Nicholas
who knew the couple well, told the Blade
that Nicholas frequently spent the night
at Jacksons mothers home. Andre was
always the much bigger personality, and
Jermaine was more quiet and laid back
but not at all stando sh, almost shy but
aable and approachable. Its impossible
to know what happened that day but I
never would have guessed in a million
years that Jermaine would kill Andre.
McLaurin, a D.C. resident and political
director for the Service Employees
International Union Local 500 added,
Our community has lost so many, but
this one is particularly hard.
Court documents indicate Jackson was
charged with Murder in the First Degree,
Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the
First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree,
Possession of a Dangerous Weapon
with Intent to Injure and Possession of a
Concealed Dangerous Weapon.
A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 18
in District Court at 1400 E. North Ave. in
Baltimore.

Marriage means health care changes in N.C.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. Major employers in North Carolina are expanding health care
coverage to same-sex spouses now that marriage is legal there for gay couples, the
Charlotte Observer reports.
Although some big employers such as Bank of America and Wells Fargo have
oered such benets for years, other employers, such as local school districts, are just
expanding the coverage, the Observer reports.
The North Carolina health plan for state employees and teachers, which covers
677,639 members, issued a notice saying spouses of plan members are now eligible for
health coverage, the Observer reports.
With 18,143 employees, CMS is one of the Charlotte areas biggest employers.
Spouses would be eligible for coverage as of Nov. 1, and employees would have to
present a marriage certicate.
CMS spokeswoman Renee McCoy said she didnt know how many employees would
take advantage of the change.
Some religious institutions arent moving so fast.
The Catholic Diocese of Charlotte has not discussed any change to its employee
benets policies, spokesman David Hains said, noting that the court ruling came faster
than most expected, the Observer reports.
Diocese employees, he said, sign an agreement that they will not do anything
contradictory to the teaching of the Catholic Church. That includes same-sex marriage,
which the church teaches violates the natural prescription of God.
The diocese employs 2,000 people at 93 parishes and 18 schools across the western
half of North Carolina, Hains told the Charlotte Observer.
When we communicate something, we will communicate to employees rst, Hains
said, adding that theres no established timeline for a decision.
At Belmont Abbey College in Gaston County, spokesman Rolando Rivas said the
Catholic college has not yet discussed the issue internally.
Last week, the University of Notre Dame and Saint Marys College, both Catholic
colleges in Indiana, said they would extend employee benets to spouses in same-sex
marriages, the article said.
Health care agencies ranked in new report
CHICAGO The Human Rights Campaign Foundation released its annual Healthcare
Equality Index with some signicant changes from last year.
For example, the Health and Aging Program team proactively researched hospitals
that chose not to participate, numbering 640 facilities.
Another new feature of this years Index is a Google Maps lookup feature that allows
users to search for rated facilities based on their location, making it easier for people to
nd LGBT-inclusive care more quickly and easily.
Hospitals were evaluated on the basis of patient non-discrimination policies, visitation
policies, employment non-discrimination policies and training in LGBT patient-centered
care, the Times reports.
Leaders in LGBT Healthcare Equality change the lives of LGBT patients and their families
for the better each and every day, said HRC President Chad Gri n in a statement.
The index evaluated 1,507 health care facilities nationwide. Visit hrc.org/hei for the full report.
Study nds GSAs help reduce harassment in schools
PASADENA, Calif. Harassment and physical assaults targeting LGBT students have
been decreasing in the last six years according to a new study from the Gay, Lesbian &
Straight Education Network (GLSEN), reported on by the Pasadena Star News.
The agency cited the increased presence of Gay-Straight Alliances in schools and
more inclusive curricular resources.
Every two years since 1999, GLSEN has released a National School Climate Survey.
The 2013 report sampled 7,898 students between 13 and 21 years old. Some 2,770
school districts from all 50 states and the District of Columbia were represented.
GLSEN looked at discriminatory school policies and practices to identify systemic problems.
About 28 percent of LGBT students reported being disciplined for public displays of
aection even though their straight peers got away with doing the same thing, according
to the survey. Some 42 percent of transgender students werent allowed to use their
preferred name, and nearly 18 percent of pupils were forbidden from discussing or
writing about LGBT topics in school assignments, the Pasadena Star News article notes.
Students who said they felt victimized because of a hostile school climate were twice
as likely to say they theyre done with school after high school.
An inclusive curriculum and resources would help LGBT students succeed
academically, the study reported. Kids benet from having LGBT examples in their
health or sexual education classes, Palmer told the Star news. History class could have
LGBT historic gures or important dates in LGBT history, he said.
Some schools blocked LGBT-related websites. About 45 percent of students with Internet
access at their school said they couldnt get to any LGBT-related information online, the article said.

Conservative bishops win
the day in major about-face
As a non-Catholic following news from
the Vatican last week it was surprising to
realize that the Pope isnt always infal-
lible. For about 24 hours it seemed like
the Catholic Church was going to take a
giant leap into the 21st century. But then
reality took hold. In a major turnaround,
conservative bishops won the day and
gave what some would consider a sting-
ing rebuke to the Pope.
The pope had called a meeting titled
the Synod on the Family. It was a two-
week meeting in Rome intended to launch
a year of discussion on major issues of
the church related to families. Accord-
ing to the Washington Post, the meeting
convened to help the Catholic Church
improve its outreach to diverse modern
families ended Saturday with a summary
paper that removed earlier, revolutionary
language that cited the value of same-sex
and divorced families.
The Post reported that the document
rst released as a mid-meeting draft
written by a small group of bishops ap-
pointed by the pope, including Washing-
ton Archbishop Donald Wuerl, contained
the words, that the Church must turn
respectfully to couples such as those
who live together unmarried or are of the
same-gender and appreciate the positive
values those unions may have. Those
few words apparently sparked a revolt by
more conservative bishops who won the
day and had them removed from the nal
report of the Synod. It was also reported
that while initially one of the documents
of the Synod had used the word welcom-
ing when referring to homosexuals and
the church, it was changed to providing
for homosexuals.
Then according to Reuters, after the
nal report of the Synod was released the
Pope gave a sermon to 70,000 faithful in
St. Peters Square and he sounded deant
when he said, God is not afraid of new
things. That is why he is continuously sur-
prising us, opening our hearts and guid-
ing us in unexpected ways.
As someone who isnt a member of the
church it has been interesting to watch
as this pope moves to bring together his
supporters and take more control of the
churchs hierarchy. We can all only hope
he will be granted enough years to move
it forward in meaningful ways. The Cath-
olic Church is a large and old institution
and like any big institution change doesnt
come easy, but it can come.
In some ways what happened in the
recent Synod is what happened in the
United Methodist Church in 2012. At that
time many members of the Washington/
Baltimore group of the church, led by
Foundry United Methodist Church in the
District of Columbia, went to the UMC
General Conference in Tampa excited
about resolutions they had managed to
pass to change the churchs Book of Disci-
pline on the issue of same-sex marriage.
They went with high hopes but came
up against a brick wall of conservative
church leaders who refused to budge on
the issue.
Many of us who have fought for the civ-
il and human rights of minorities, women
and the LGBT community, have under-
stood clearly that the progress we have
made is all about civil law. That alone has
been a long, hard ght. During that ght
we have been incredibly careful to make
the case that religious liberty is just that
the right to practice ones faith accord-
ing to the tenets of the faith. Our prog-
ress on marriage equality has been faster
because people have understood we are
changing only civil law. Some of the ghts
we are now still having on the Employ-
ment Non-Discrimination Act are partially
related to how to dierentiate where civil
law and our Constitution end and church
law begins. We are debating the impact of
civil law on the practice of religion.
As we gain our human and civil rights
under civil law, and we are in many ways
still far from securing those, we will be
working to have those rights inculcated
into the culture and accepted. Once
that happens I believe that there will be
more pressure on religious institutions
by their own members to also be more
accepting. Clearly that will take time. But
when those like Pope Francis are willing
to speak up and ght for universal ac-
ceptance of all people recognizing that
we have all been made in Gods image, I
know that time will come.

Stinging rebuke for the pope
Pope Francis trying to drag
church into modern world
My parents werent religious and Im
not Catholic. Yet, the pope was at the
center of some of my most unforgettable
childhood memories. When I was 10, my
folks visited Rome. Seeing the pope was
a highlight of the trip for my Mom, who
was often ill. Pope John [the XXIII] gave
me a new life, she said, describing what
it meant to her to stand with many others
to receive the Pontis blessing.
In the early 1960s, the spirit of the
Second Vatican Council (a.k.a. Vatican II),
which Pope John XXIII convened to open
up the windows of the Catholic Church
to the modern world, was everywhere.
Its about time! I remember my Dad,
who was Jewish, saying when he heard
that Vatican II had declared that the Jews
hadnt killed Jesus Christ.
My ears pricked up recently when I
heard the news from an assembly of Ro-
man Catholic bishops convened by Pope
Francis. On Oct. 13, this Synod, made up
of 190 voting bishops and cardinals, is-
sued a preliminary report saying not only
that there are positive aspects of civil
unions and cohabitation, but that gays
and lesbians have gifts and qualities to
oer to the Christian community. While
conrming the teaching of the Catholic
Church on homosexuality and marriage,
the 12-page document even said that
some same-sex couples give each other
mutual aid to the point of sacrice and
precious support in the life of the part-
ners. The report also oered welcome to
divorced Catholics and to straight unmar-
ried couples who live together.
Given that the Catholic Church has long
taught that homosexuality is disordered
and that LGBT people are living in sin, to
many of us, the spirit of the preliminary
report echoed that of Vatican II. We knew
it wasnt a nal report and that change in
an institution such as the Catholic Church,
wouldnt be easy. But we dared to hope
that the churchs windows had begun to
be opened.
Not unexpectedly, conservatives at the
assembly objected to the preliminary re-
ports welcoming language toward gays
and lesbians and civilly married straight
couples. Backtracking, the nal report is-
sued at the Synods end on Oct. 18, said
that gays must be met with respect and
sensitivity, but nixed the talk of our gifts
to the Christian community.
This backtracking isnt good news, but it
doesnt mean all hope for LGBT people in
the Catholic Church is gone. As with poli-
tics, seeing how the sausage is made in
religion isnt pretty. Yet, at the opening of
the assembly, Pope Francis signaled that
he wanted the sausage making to be out
in the open. Speak clearly, Francis said,
No one must say, This cant be said.
Mary E. Hunt, a Catholic feminist theo-
logian and her partner are parents of a
child, who they adopted. Im not part of
a traditional family, Hunt said in a phone
interview with the Blade, Im part of what
the church considers to be a problem.
The bishops and cardinals at the Synod
are celibate, Hunt said. They dont make
the mature adult decisions that you make
when youre part of a family unit with
spouses and children, Hunt said.
Whats important in a tweeting uni-
verse is that the world got to see how
the report was crafted at the Synod, she
added. Lots of groups, such as New Ways
Ministry, and our group, lobbied the Syn-
od about the future of the church, said
Hunt, co-director of Womens Alliance for
Theology, Ethics and Ritual. No one can
say we didnt hear the experiences of lots
of people.
This report isnt the last word on these
matters. In October 2015, another Synod
will again take up these issues.
It would be naive not to realize that
change occurs slowly in the Catholic Church.
Yet, justice cant be set back forever.
Synod a setback, but hope not lost for gay Catholics
VI EWPOI NT
In the midterm elections
panic sweepstakes, the loser
is responsible governance
Thanks to a Tar Heel friend who alerted
me to issue ads in the North Carolina Senate
race, I now know that for six years the poli-
cies of Barack Obama and Kay Hagan have
dominated Washington. Karl Roves Ameri-
can Crossroads, you see, is touting Republi-
can Thom Tillis.
For months the Democratic Congressio-
nal Campaign Committee has raised funds
with emails titled Devastating defeat and
All hope is lost. Happily, hope is revived if
I donate a mere $5, and its Triple-Matched!
One subject line sadly failed: This is a long
email. Please read the whole thing.
Last weekend I got an appeal from DCCC
signed by public-minded diva Barbra Strei-
sand, with lines like: The decit is rapidly
dropping and is just 2.8% of GDP the low-
est since 2007. At rst I doubted she had
such expertise, but then I remembered she
brought in her movie Yentl at only 11 per-
cent over budget.
Meanwhile, marriage equality is sweeping
the nation, while dejected opponents invoke
the End Times. When a U.S. District Court
ruling on Oct. 17 made Arizona the 31st
marriage equality state, Gov. Jan Brewer
slammed unelected federal judges for rob-
bing citizens of the right to make laws direct-
ly. I wonder if those who say this have ever
taken a civics class. The Constitution a rms
no right to make laws by ballot measure,
but it does guarantee equal protection. Why
should people expect a veto on their neigh-
bors marital decisions?
The real problem the right has with our
judiciary is that it interferes with their eorts
to stampede the public. A stampede helps
you enact your agenda as rapidly and with
as little scrutiny as possible. James Madison
worried that minorities could be tyrannized
by the majority as much as by a king. The
federal judiciary is part of the checks and
balances he and others designed to prevent
tyranny from below as well as above.
In this election, the Republican Party is
winning the sweepstakes for stampeding
voters to avoid examination of its record.
Panic and outrage are the best ways to pro-
voke a stampede. In the late 17th century,
an accusation of witchcraft could eliminate
a rival. In the early 20th century, the alleged
rape of a white woman could set o de-
struction of an entire black community with
nary a whisper of due process. Today, the
favored goblins are Islamist head-choppers
and sick Africans.
None of this could withstand critical in-
quiry, but politicians exploit our herd in-
stinct. A beloved Psalm, after all, portrays us
as sheep needing a shepherd. The faithful
are called a ock. Using the brains that God
gave us to think for ourselves is condemned
as vanity. One of the strongest social forces
is ostracism of anyone who rocks the boat.
We picture ourselves as a nation of rugged
frontiersmen, yet react to each new threat
like a victim in a horror movie.
It is as implausible that we are helpless
against ISIS attacks as it is that we are less
able to stop Ebola than Senegal. Republicans
are merely trading on our worst instincts to
win an election. The shortage of Proles in
Courage among Democrats notwithstand-
ing, if you are equally scornful of both major
parties then you may have missed patriotic
scenes like that of GOP senators faulting
public health failures while refusing to con-
rm a surgeon general.
Tea Partiers love to quote Jeerson, The
tree of liberty must be refreshed from time
to time with the blood of patriots and ty-
rants. Their bloody fantasies make especial-
ly relevant John Philpot Currans words from
1790: It is the common fate of the indolent
to see their rights become a prey to the ac-
tive. The condition upon which God hath
given liberty to man is eternal vigilance.
As of Oct. 19, statistician Nate Silver
gave Republicans a 62 percent chance of
taking the Senate. Go prove him wrong,
but consider this: if the GOP wins, Mitch
McConnell will have to contend with the
ambitions of Sens. Ted Cruz, Rand Paul
and Marco Rubio. Perhaps Log Cabin Re-
publicans can welcome him to the Major-
ity Leaders o ce with a two-year supply
of rainbow-colored antacids.

Seeking support in bid for
Council At-Large seat
By ROBERT WHITE
Days before Io ciallylaunched my cam-
paign for D.C. Council At-Large I got my rst
question on the trail.A man at a bar asked,
Where do you stand on gay marriage? I
wasrelieved to get sucha softballquestion
that would allow me to show o progres-
sive values, commitment to social justice
and legislative reasoning all at once.
But asIopened my mouth to voice my
strong support for the LGBTQ commu-
nity and the work I had done with Del.
Eleanor Holmes Norton on Capitol Hill to
protect D.C.s marriage equality law and
to remove the federal needle exchange
ban from the Districts budget in order to
reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS, the mans
wife interrupted and exclaimed, This is
D.C. Everyones for gay marriage!
The woman was right. D.C. has
very progressive laws (and candidates).
But, like virtually everywhere else, westill
have a lot of work to do to support and
protect the LGBTQ community as we
work toward an era of full acceptance
and a rmation. Because we still face so-
cial discrimination against members of
the LGBTQ community in D.C., it is par-
ticularly important that we elect allies
with strong legislativeexperience to the
Council who will champion solutions to
these challenges.
As a candidate for one of two At-Large
seats up for grabs in the Nov. 4 elec-
tion, I look forward to joining the Coun-
cil to continue advocating for the LG-
BTQ community, with a special focus
on helping to protect its most vulner-
ablemembers, the elderly and the young.
I am hurt and angered any time I see dis-
crimination or cruelty. ButI am especially
distressed bytheinjustices and prejudices
faced byLGBTQseniorswhoface discrimi-
nation based on sexual orientation and
gender identity in nursing homes and as-
sisted-living communities at a time in their
lives when they aredefenselessand, often,
alone. I am equally troubled by the harms
done to our LGBTQ youth by families
whoforce them to become homelessand
bulliesthat drive them to depression and
suicide. Beyond the confusion, hurt and
frustration these types of discrimination
cause, I understand how they ripple into
more disparities, including mental and
physical health crises, prostitution, unem-
ployment and isolation. Addressing the
discrimination against our neighbors is a
social justice issue that requires compas-
sion and action from the Council.
Our elderly, who paved the way for the
progressive laws we now enjoy, and our
youth, who are brave enough to live open-
ly and honestly about their sexuality and
identities, deserve our support.These are
some of the most vulnerable members
of theLGBTQcommunity, and I will be a
consistent ally for them and for others on
the Council.
Yes, I support marriage equality, but
that is not enough.Nor is it enough to be
passionateabout these and other issues
facing our city without the experience to
resolve them.We need to elect members
of the Council who understand that there
still is discrimination against members of
theLGBTQcommunity and who are com-
mittedand equippedto address it.
With a vacant At-Large seat, it is partic-
ularly important that we elect a candidate
who is committed to being a leader in
resolving these disparities, and who has
the experience to get results. With years
of experience in D.C. public policy, a track
record of hard work and results on LG-
BTQand many other issues aecting our
city, and an unwavering commitment to
social justice, I believe that I am the best
candidate for one of your two At-Large
votes on Nov. 4.
A voice for D.C.s elders and our youth
A candidate who will give our
son the best opportunities
By CLARK RAY
My partner and I have lived in the District
of Columbia for more than 25 years. We
have invested here, built our careers here,
bought homes and enjoyed all of the ame-
nities that the District has to oer.
We have participated in the Districts
political process by voting for mayors,
Council members, school board repre-
sentatives, ANC members, etc. Each time
we cast our vote for a particular candi-
date or issue we did so because of per-
sonal preference. Sometimes we agreed
on candidates and issues and other times
we did not and in those instances that we
did not agree, we agreed to disagree
and moved on with our daily lives. In
some cases, a little friendly wager may
have been involved for instance I may
have to do the weekly laundry or if my
candidate or issue won he may have to
do the weekly grocery shopping.
Election 2014 is a new experience for
us. Since the last election for mayor in
the District of Columbia my partner and
I have become parents. We adopted an
energetic and enthusiastic boy from the
District who has lled our lives with hap-
piness and challenges all wrapped in one.
Along with the happiness and challenges
comes a great responsibility. It is up to us,
his parents, to ensure that he has all of
the skills, resources and tools needed to
become a responsible productive mem-
ber of the District of Columbia. No longer
are my partner and I casting votes as in-
dividuals based on personal preference
or individual likes or dislikes. For the rst
time our political decision will be based
on who WE feel is best prepared to en-
sure a better future for our family.
For mayor, we are going to vote for a
candidate we feel will give our son the
best chance to grow up with a great edu-
cation, live in a safe neighborhood, and
be able to buy a house, raise a family and
enjoy living in a diverse neighborhood in
the District and that candidate for us is
Muriel Bowser.
Before I go further, my partner and
I are lucky to live in a District where we
have great candidates who oer them-
selves for public o ce and this election is
no dierent. We respect those who may
support a dierent candidate than us and
ask for the same Democracy is a great
gift and having the right to exercise our
vote is priceless.
We support Muriel because we know
her, we trust her and we share in her
vision that she has for the future of the
District of Columbia. We subscribe to Mu-
riels vision that we are all dierent indi-
vidually but collectively share the values
of fairness, justice and hard work. We, as
parents, share Muriels belief that all chil-
dren in the District of Columbia deserve
the right to a quality education. We want
a world-class public education system
for our son. We share Muriels belief that
all residents of the District of Columbia
should have access to aordable housing
units. We want our son to have the op-
portunity to live in the District of Colum-
bia and to raise a family of his own a
shameless plug to for grandparency.
We share Muriels belief that good gov-
ernment is transparent government and
applaud her for the ethical reforms she
has brought through legislation to the Dis-
trict government. We want our son to live
in a District where its leaders are trustwor-
thy honest, fair and held accountable.
As my partner and I have shifted from
our personal wants and needs to those
of our family we are heartened that great
leaders such as former District of Columbia
Mayor Anthony Williams, who many credit,
including us, with engineering a renais-
sance in the District and President Barack
Obama have endorsed Muriel as the best
qualied candidate to lead the District of
Columbia moving forward. We do too!
Ilookforward to joining the Council tocontinue
advocating for theLGBTQcommunity, with
a special focus onhelping toprotectitsmost
vulnerablemembers, the elderly and the young.

Which Marvin will be
your Marvin?
Take emotion out
of the equation
when listing property
By MARK RUTSTEIN
The decision to sell your home comes
with so many emotions. The memories,
the history, the money spent. You have
the best home in the city and nobody has
anything better. Relationships were born
here and you can just visualize that time
when Aunt Irene came for Thanksgiving
dinner or when the dog ate all the Hal-
loween candy. Your home is special and
selling it is selling a part of you. OK, stop
right there. The moment you make the
decision to sell your home is the moment
you should tell yourself that it is not your
home anymore.
Removing the emotional side of you
when listing your home is crucial. Think
of it as a commodity so that clear think-
ing can bring a successful outcome. Stop
thinking of how much sweat went into
building that fence, or putting up that red
velvet wallpaper in the half bath. Your
home is really only worth what buyers are
willing to pay for it. Maximizing the audi-
ence within the current buyer pool and
achieving a successful sale is the job of
your Realtor. The amount of
time you spend on emotional
support counseling from your Re-
altor could be time spent on mar-
keting your property.
Pick a Realtor you believe in and
who has shown success in listing
property in your market. Now lis-
ten to that Realtor. You may think
you know this game, youve read
all the articles, and you
are prepared
to make all
the deci-
sions. Keep
in mind that
your Realtor
has most likely co-
ordinated more sales of
real estate than you will in
your entire life. You hired him/
her to sell the property, so listen to
all the suggestions.
Sure, you have a price in mind because
you have been watching dierent homes
sell on your block. Fantastic, this is great
information to share. Ask for comparable
sales within the last six months and have
a conversation with your agent. This is
a great time to highlight features or im-
provements that may set your home
apart from others. Come up with a game
plan and sign on the dotted line.
After you come up with an agreeable
price, clean, de-clutter and stage if neces-
sary. You want your home to photograph
well. Talk about marketing and what your
Realtor is going to do to get it sold. Re-
move personal items that may be uncom-
fortable to buyers. Dont
assume that buyers are
going to love your taste
in furniture, paint color or
even your thimble collec-
tion. Make changes that
allow for a broad apprecia-
tion of your home that fo-
cuses on the home and not
your belongings. You may
love that Hillary For Presi-
dent 2016 poster, but take it
down, pack it away for your
next home. Set up showing
rules with your Realtor that al-
low for the maximum amount
of people to walk through your
home at a convenient time for
them. Make yourself scarce or
even go away for the weekend.
Repeat over and over, Its not my home
anymore, its not my home anymore.
Squash the emotion and all thoughts on
how amazing your home is. Its probably
really fabulous, but it is only as fabulous
as buyers think it is and are willing to pay
for it. If you follow these steps, you are in
for a rewarding sale. Get it sold!
