Transition from paper to Pixel is happening globally. Many Indian start-ups have come up to cater the need of
education market like Digital Future of Education Pvt. Ltd, Talent Sprint Education Services Pvt. Ltd, Dezyre.com, NCS
Pearson Inc, as its forecasted to be a market worth Rs.5.9 trillion in 2014-15. Start-up face the rigid default
behaviour and distribution channel problems. Another problem faced was the internet penetration rate itself, which
although increasing, still impedes growth of digital education in many parts of India. To cater these problems E books
can be used with Kindle E-reader as proposed media.
Lingering Aakash project by former HRD minister does require restructuring and furthermore the objectives of Right
to Education act (2009) also put emphasis on proposal as below:

Enables to take the education out of the classrooms
to reach masses.

Saves printing, distribution costs for books.
Avoid unhealthy weights for kids.
Solution for physically challenged students.

Kindle Serves the purpose

Dedicated E-book reader which is handy and easy to
use.
Whispercast services to manage its Kindles and
distribute Kindle content.
Caters to need of RTE act by enabling learning
content to distant rural areas for K-12 schooling.
Amazon India is new to India and shall be very much
interested to make its presence felt.
One time investment and thereafter its all about
pushing new course books.
Why Kindle is better?

Not just E-book reader but actually a library.
Various E-books available at kindle app store will
ensure a holistic development by encouraging
reading habits.
WhisperSync synchronizes the bookmarks and
furthest page read among devices registered.
Seamless reading experience.
Screen is soft to eyes when reading and does not
glare when in sunlight.
Minimum backlight; Battery life of 1 month.
Purpose of education solved without digression.
Aakash project by GoI is still in delays and
controversies because of inferior quality, hence
using established product makes perfect sense.
Error corrections, if any, can be done and updated
seamlessly.
Reliability and robustness are keys to this plan for
cost effectiveness.
Implementation

At first sight the budget allocated to Aakash project
can be targeted i.e. RS 500 crores.
Amazon to send Kindle with E-books (NCERT and
more) to HRD ministry which shall distribute to all
the KV schools in Delhi and gradually to other cities.

Kindle shall then be a property of KV schools and can
be issued to students in school.
We start with K.G. batch and keep revising content
by wifi sync in school facilities. (Internet not req.)
With some motivation, we expect private schools to
follow suit and widely use kindle as the new book
in around 12 years time.

Establishing reach of this technology within existing infrastructure is to be coupled with pushing of Kindle to rural
distant areas for inclusive learning growth. A weekly gathering to address these students and whispersync their
devices (by WiFi) can be executed.
