SUBJECT
INSTALLATION OF THE TAIL ROTOR FAIRING GASKET.
REASON
Provide the necessary instructions to perform the installation of the silicon rubber
gasket to the tail rotor fairing.
HELICOPTERS AFFECTED
All the AgustaWestland helicopters A109E not already equipped with the gasket in
subject.
COMPLIANCE
At customers option.
DESCRIPTION
With the purpose of eliminate possible vibration fretting between tail rotor fairing and
tail boom, AgustaWestland developed a dedicated procedure consisting in the
installation of a extruded silicon rubber gasket along the fairing edge by means of
adhesive. Depending on helicopter painting scheme is possible to install two color
type gaskets: black and white.

To comply with this Bollettino Tecnico 1 (one) Maintenance-Man-Hours (MMH) are
deemed necessary.
Maintenance-Man-Hours are based on hands-on time and can change with
personnel and facilities available.

COMPLIANCE INSTRUCTIONS
GENERAL NOTES
a) Place an identification tag on all components
that are re-usable, including the attaching
hardware that has been removed to gain
access to the modification area and
adequately protect them until their later re-
use.
b) Replace the hardware found damaged during
the following operation.
c) Let adhesive cure at room temperature for at
least 24 hours unless otherwise specified.
d) All lengths are in mm.
1. Prepare the helicopter on ground for a safe maintenance, disconnect any power
supply.
2. In accordance with the procedures given in the A109E Maintenance Manual
open the tail rotor fairing P/N 109-0370-16-125.
3. With reference to figure 1 place on the edge of the internal side of the fairing the
silicone rubber P/N A146A1906CW (white) or P/N A146A1906CB (black); cut it
at adequate length.
4. Clean the installation area with a cheesecloth moistened with aliphatic naphtha
then install the gasket by means of RBR adhesive.
5. In accordance with the procedures given in the A109E Maintenance Manual
close the tail rotor fairing P/N 109-0370-16-125.
6. Return the helicopter to a ready to flight condition.
7. Fill and forward the Technical Bulletin Compliance Form to AgustaWestland
spa. To following address:

8. Record compliance with this Bollettino Tecnico in the helicopter log book.
