1.1.2 Design of Signaling Links

Subrack number

Configuration Rules for Signaling Links

Two or more subracks

It is recommended to configure 8 SCTP links on the signaling plane

between the BSC/RNC and the MSC. Distribute the 8 links in different
subracks of different SPUb boards in different SPU subsystems.

Figure 1-1 SCTP Signaling Links Design

GOUc cards should configure 2 SCTP IP for SCTP link dual homing. One SCTP link is between SCTP IP1 and
Peer end IP1. Another SCTP link is between SCTP IP 2 and peer end IP.

1.1.3 Quantity Design of User Plane Links

For every pair of GOUc cards used for IUCS interface, it should configure 4 IPPATHS for different services:
Conversational / streaming / interactive / background. And the IPPATH number should be the same as MGW
IP PATH number

4 SCTP links have to be defined between RNC to SGSN. In dual-homing of SCTP link, a
Primary IP and a Secondary IP have to be defined for each SCTP link.
