Durability results of Agilia are classified as excellent as per Alexander MG,

Ballim Y and Mackechne JR guide to the use of the durability indices.
Please note that Agilia is not recommended for heavy industrial floor
applications after considering the above abrasion results.
9. Recommendations

Agilia Horizontal

1. Can be laid over any stable substrate. Standard concrete practices must be applied
2. Recommended for flatwork only.
3. Formwork must be watertight to avoid any grout loss.
4. Normal levelling practices are required as Agilia is not entirely self levelling.
5. Joints need to be cut according to standard concrete practices
6. To avoid a screed, door thresholds need to be set into the Agilia floor slab or screedless
door frames need to be used.
7. Always involve a Lafarge sales representative for advice prior to ordering Agilia.
One can never be too careful!

Agilia Vertical

1. Proper formwork design is required to withstand the additional hydrostatic pressures of Agilia.
2. All joints need to be sealed with a joint sealer to avoid any grout loss.
3. The correct demoulding oils need to be correctly applied to formwork to ensure high
quality off-shutter finishes. Bio degradable organic oils are recommended.
4. Shutters can be removed as per standard concrete practices.
5. Always involve a Lafarge sales representative for advice prior to ordering Agilia.
One can never be too careful!

1. Definition
Agilia is a self consolidating concrete designed to flow under its own
weight, requiring no vibration and is able to completely fill all spaces
within the formwork, while remaining homogeneous
2. Product Range

Agilia Horizontal

Agilia Vertical

Agilia Foundation

Agilia Deep Foundation

Agilia Metal Foundation

3. Applications
Agilia Horizontal is designed with a higher slump flow for easier
placement and levelling making it ideal for use in all horizontal
applications. Agilia Horizontal can be used for slabs on grades,
slabs on steel decks, floor repairs or road sections. Floor screeds and
power floating can be avoided if the floor is to be ultimately tiled or
carpeted.
Agilia Vertical is designed with improved viscosity to ensure better
off shutter finishes and better flowability between reinforcement
making it ideal for use in all vertical applications. Agilia Vertical can
be used for walls, columns, beams, precast & heavily reinforced or
highly congested applications such as lift shafts, sheer walls and
reservoirs.
Agilia Foundation is designed with high slump flow making it ideal
for use in all foundations including deep foundations. Agilia Deep
Foundation increases the workability period and improves the
compaction in deep level piling. Agilia Metal Foundations contains
steel fibres and may be used as an alternative to using steel rebar in
foundations.
The Agilia range of products is available for indoor and outdoor
applications and will save you energy, time and labour.
4. Advantages
The advantages of using Agilia include:
Reduces efforts on site

Allows contractors to extend their working hours in residential areas

Allows earlier loading of floors and decks.

Improves the working environment

Reduces pumping costs

Concrete can be pumped over long distances

5. Agilia, an Innovative Product

Do you need to be more competitive, to reduce your costs, to work with a challenging schedule or to meet higher
expectations? If so, Agilia offers you the solution. Agilia Horizontal can be placed, finished & cured in one quick
operation while Agilia Vertical offers the benefits of higher quality finishes and larger single castings at faster & safer
placement.
6. Characteristics
Agilia is a concrete that self-consolidates under its own weight without the need for additional vibration. It was developed
over 10 years at our dedicated research facilities in response to contractors requests for a concrete that was easier to
place and more cost effective.
Unlike traditional concrete, Agilia is measured by its flow and viscosity and not by slump. A typical flow of 550-700mm
will allow different areas to be reached without the need for additional working. Slump retentions of between 90-120
minutes are achieved.
Agilia performs in the same way as standard concrete with regard to strength and setting characteristics. Durability
indices are however, improved using Agilia over standard concrete.
Agilia Horizontal & Agilia Vertical achieve compressive strengths in excess of 18 Mpa 3 days after casting, 40 Mpa 7
days after casting and 50 Mpa 28 days after casting. Agilia Foundation achieves in excess of 35 Mpa 28 days after
casting.
7. Placement
Compared to traditional concrete, placement times for Agilia can be significantly reduced. Savings of 50-75% can be
achieved with the correct preparations. When pouring into forms some simple precautions should be taken. To avoid
grout leakage, ensure forms are secure and sealed at all joints. This should be discussed with your formwork supplier as
hydrostatic pressures are normally twice as high as standard concrete.
A Full-scale trial was undertaken at the premises of Sateco Industrie, Mirebeau, France by a consortium of Sateco,
Orsa Beton and Sika, using a 12m-high form. This showed that the pressure at the base of the form with SCC could be
20% less than full hydrostatic pressure. In other words, although the SCC is fluid, it appeared to behave as a granular
medium above a certain height (+- 2.5 meters) within the formwork
As with traditional concrete, Agilia must be cured. Agilia Horizontal is supplied with a Lafarge endorsed Ultra Cure
curing compound which must be applied to all flatwork surfaces immediately after finishing. The recommended dosage
is one litre Ultra Cure per 5 m2 and must be evenly applied using a pressure vessel. The Ultra Cure data sheet is
available on request.
Agilia can be craned, pumped or directly discharged from a vehicle. Crane buckets must be water tight.
