Escape from reality with Anything Goes

Moorestown Theater Companys 93rd production planned for Nov. 14-16, 21-23
By BRIGIT BAUMA

IF YOU GO

The Sun
Do you feel the need to take a
little vacation this fall? Though
you might not be able to afford a
full cruise, you can escape from
reality for a few hours on a cruise
with the cast of Anything Goes
to dance, sing and laugh to its
well known songs such as You're
the Top, Let's Misbehave,
Blow, Gabriel Blow, Take me
Back to Manhattan and, of
course, its title song Anything
Goes.
Come and set sail on the S.S.
America along with a group of
crazy and fun characters in the
Moorestown Theater Company's
93rd theater production on Nov.
14-16 and 21-23. The 40-member
cast includes residents from
Moorestown and other South Jersey towns, including Rick
Williams from Channel 6ABC as
Moonface Marion. MTC's fifth tap
dancing, adult musical Anything
Goes is performed with live actors and a live orchestra.
It's a fun show. People of all
ages, kids, will understand it.
There is nothing objectionable so
it is fun for the whole family.
There is nothing like a live show
and a great tap dancing musical,
said Mark Morgan, producing
artistic director and founding

Anything Goes, in my mind,
is one of the perfect musicals
ever made. There are well-known
songs, great characters and it's
funny, laugh out loud. It is also
pretty corny with mistaken identity, boy meets girl and boy gets
girl. We had never done Anything
Goes in our 12 years of existence.
It is a fun show and I don't think
enough theater companies do it

here is a good chance to bring it

Since its start, the Moorestown

tap dancing shows, including this
one. However, according to Morgan, this one should resonate

Jordan, Delgado
re-elected to council
Republicans defeat Democratic
challengers Endres and George
By BRIGIT BAUMA
The Sun
Deputy Mayor Stacey F. Jordan
was re-elected to council last
week, and she will be joined by
fellow Republican Manuel Delgado, who won election as well.
According to unofficial results
from the The Burlington County
Board of Elections, Jordan received 29.44 percent of the votes
and Delgado received 28.37 percent.
Our team worked extremely
hard and took no vote for granted;
I knocked on about 3,000 doors
from Lenola to Laurel Creek,
made hundreds of phone calls
and attended a ton of great events
around town. Our message was a
clear vision for the continued success of Moorestown. Im extreme-

ly humbled and honored by the

faith the voters of Moorestown
have placed in me and in Stacey,
and Im looking forward to getting to work for the town I love,
Delgado said.
I was very excited and extremely humbled at the same
time. It is humbling that people
would put their trust in me to be
on the council again, Jordan
said. Im really proud to have
run with Manny. He is a genuine
and good person and a good addition to council. I hope we will continue to bring the best government we can for the town.
Democratic challenger Edmond George received 20.77 percent of the votes and Elizabeth
Endres received 21.35 percent of

t first glance, the early results

of last weeks midterm elections show a nationwide backlash against President Obama and the
Democratic Party.
For the second straight midterm
election, Republicans earned significant victories, this time flipping at
least seven seats in the Senate to their
side. Three incumbent Democratic
senators lost their re-election bids, in
North Carolina, Arkansas and Colorado. Four other states Iowa, Montana, South Dakota and West Virginia also changed party hands from
Democrat to Republican. And results
in Alaska, Virginia and Louisiana are
still out, as of this writing.
The Senate victories now give the
Republicans full control of Congress,
with its majority in the House of Representatives being its largest margin
since World War II. In addition, Republican governors won election or re-

election in key states such as Ohio,

Wisconsin and New Mexico, in Maryland a traditionally Democratic
state and in Illinois, Obamas home
state.
Data such as this would make one
think that voters are unhappy with the
performance and direction of the
White House. And thats probably accurate. Early exit polls found that
Obamas approval rating is down 10
points versus 2012, and more voters
said they were voting to show opposition to Obama (34 percent) rather than
support for him (20 percent). More
people also have an unfavorable view
of the Democratic Party than a favor-

able view (53 percent to 44 percent).

But even more people have a negative view of the Republican Party (56
percent) than a positive view (40 percent).
So what gives? Voters made a statement directly to Obama with the
midterm elections; they seemed to
vote against Obama instead of for the
Republicans. Republican supporters
could spin that to say its not true;
Democratic supporters could say
things will change in two years when
Obamas out.
In the meantime, we can all expect
two more years of jarring in D.C. with
not much getting done, since the Republicans in Congress will most likely
clash with Obama in the White House.
Voters are not happy, but who are
they most unhappy with? Thats something the prognosticators will debate
heavily for the next two years, before
the next big national election in 2016.

Handling of unregulated
chemical in water is unsettling
Thank you for the informative article
about the closure of the Moorestown
Township wells, Wells are closed but
water safe, officials say published Oct. 1521.
After reading all the positive statements
made by Township Attorney Anthony T.
Drollas, Deputy Mayor Stacey Jordan and
Mayor Chris Chiacchio, we might feel reassured about how the leak was handled. We
shouldnt.
How long have township officials known
about the leak of 1,2,3 trichloropropane

into our drinking water? A CBS-Philly

video report says It was first detected in
March of last year, and Jordan said the
township started testing its water (for
TCP?) 18 months ago.
It is deeply unsettling that we have unknowingly been drinking water containing
various levels of an unregulated chemical
the EPA describes as a likely carcinogen
for a year and a half.
How many of us would have switched to
bottled water had we known? Why didnt
we have a right to decide?
In the CBSPhilly video, Moorestown
Township Manager D. Scott Carew said:
No one told us to shut down. We did so voluntarily.

That sounds like timely action, but it

was 18 months late. The decision was voluntary, but the state DEP advised town officials that it would be prudent to shut the
wells down.
When were members of the town council informed about the leak? Did they meet
and discuss it with the township attorney
and the manager? What action did they
take to inform residents?
I visited the township website recently
and signed up for email alerts. The first
one I received was a notice that the township council meeting scheduled for Oct. 20
was cancelled due to lack of business.
I learned something already.

Live Civilly seeks volunteers for annual Moorestown Holiday Parade

Live Civilly is proud to offer its
first Environmental Service Project to youth and families! This exciting opportunity is a great way
for families to watch the Annual
Moorestown Holiday Parade together, while still performing a
valuable community service. In
an effort to encourage our youth
to be aware of our every-day community environment, Live Civilly
is recruiting Environmental
Elves!
So, what is an Environmental
Elf ? Environmental Elves are
Live Civilly volunteers who help
to keep our town and local environment clean and free of debris!

Environmental Elves can be any

age, however, elves under the age
of 13 must be in the company of
an adult. Live Civilly is currently
recruiting Environmental Elves
the 2014 Moorestown Lions Club
Holiday Parade. The Holiday Parade is scheduled for Saturday,
Dec. 6 at noon.
Being an Environmental Elf is
an active project! For the Holiday
Parade, youth volunteers, or
Elves, will be supplied with
work gloves, Environmental Elf
t-shirts and trash bags. Volunteers will be stationed along the
parade route to help keep the
events clean and free from trash

and manageable until garbage

collection takes place. Elves will
be asked to put filled trash bags
next to existing trash cans along
Main Street during the parade in
an effort to keep our local downtown beautiful.
Parades and
events often generate extra trash
and existing trashcans are not
enough to contain the mess. Because municipal trash collection
only picks up what is bagged,
Live Civilly wants to encourage
our youth to think about ways to
help keep the environment clean.
Working together, as a community, helps to achieve common goals.
How do you and your families
become Environmental Elves?
Its easy! Sign up with Live Civilly on their Environmental Elf
Sign-Up Genius! The Sign Up can
be accessed by searching Live
Civilly on the www.SignupGenius.com website.
One week
prior to each event we will send a
confirmation email along with a
parental release form and instructions. Live Civilly will provide additional information as
well as on onsite training opportunity the day of the parade.
Elves can receive service hours
from
Live
Civilly.
Parents/guardians are encouraged to ask questions and accompany their youth along the parade
route. A check-in and check-out
system will be established. Parents and guardians will receive
detailed information and waivers
prior to the event.
Business owners or organizations interested in sponsoring the
Environmental Elves should contact Kahra Buss at (856) 313-9853
or kahra@livecivilly.org. Sponsorships range from $100-$250.

There is a romantic aspect,

but its not really a love story. It is
about her journey through college into young adulthood. Its fun
and entertaining, a Sex in the
City kind of story. Its really
about a girl who moves into the
city and encounters a lot of interesting people, Muccifori said.
Since Muccifori loves to write,
she doesnt find it hard. It is finding the time to write that is hard.
Having to raise a family and take
care of the house, Muccifori
sometimes found herself writing
at 4 a.m. in her familys guest
room to find alone time to write.
Muccifori said she needs complete silence to write and get into
the story.
That is why I wanted a pen
name. You have to go outside of
yourself. I need complete quiet to
get into the realm and the characters, Muccifori said.
But after all the hard work,
Muccifori felt it was most gratifying to have a finished product and
to feel like she finally got it right.
My favorite part, after revising it and reading it over, is saying exactly what you want to say.
Its an amazing feeling when you
feel like you got it perfectly right
and it says exactly what you

wanted to say, Muccifori said.

Muccifori decided to self-publish her first novel rather than go
through a publishing company
because she wanted to see her
product and be a part of the production from start to the end.
I decided to self publish it.
Youre responsible for everything
in that case; you see the product
all the way through. I wanted to
feel like it was my own product,
completely mine, so that is why I
chose that route, Muccifori said.
She is working on the sequel to
Love Match as well as a childrens book, which she has decided to try to get published through
a publishing company.
Muccifori will be signing "Love
Match" at the Camden County Library System's Mingling with
Local Authors event on Saturday,
Nov. 15 from 1 p. m. to 3 p.m. at the
Vogelson Branch of the Camden
County Library System at 203
Laurel Road in Voorhees. She will
have books available for purchase. Mucciforis book is also
available online at Amazon and
Barnes & Noble websites.
To learn more about Muccifori
and her book, check out her author website at www.reggiethomasuthor.com.

rus of the shows, is even in the

cast this year as a lead, playing

Lord Evelyn Oakleigh, an English

gentleman who is part of one of
the romantic pairings.
Morgan is usually behind the
scenes, working with the cast,
crew and score to fit all the pieces
of the puzzle together. This, Morgan said, is one of his favorite
parts of theater.
I just love the process, getting
people together, actors, directing
teams, costume designers and set
designers. I am lucky enough to
move the pieces of the puzzle
around and try make them fit,
Morgan said.
According to Morgan, audiences should expect to laugh and
be awed by the talented tap
dancers in the show. They should
also be excited to recognize some
of the cast members either from
town, school or television. He also
hopes people will be inspired to
join or at least come again to another show by the MTC.
I hope they'll be glad they
spent the time with us. Hopefully,

they'll be so into the show and

characters they'll forget their
problems for two and a half
hours. I'm sure they'll leave the
show humming one of its catchy
songs, Morgan said.
As of now, the MTC does not

the votes.
I was disappointed [about the
results]. Ed and I received so
much support along the way.
When I had the chance to look at
the numbers, I was even more disappointed because voter turnout
was so low in Moorestown 1,500
less people voted on Tuesday than
in a similar election four years
ago. I have to wonder why so
many voters stayed home with so
many important issues in
Moorestown, Endres said.
The full unofficial results from
the Burlington County Board of
Elections for Township Council
are as follows: Stacey F. Jordan
(R) 3,953; Manuel Delgado (R)
3,809; Edmond M. George (D)
2,789; Elizabeth Endres (D) 2,866;
Personal Choice 10. There were a
total of 13,427 votes.
For the future, Delgado wants
to look at ways the council can increase efficiencies in processes

while working to bring more

grants into Moorestown. He plans
on using his professional experience to make the budget more
sustainable for the long term and
keep the progress going that the
current council majority has
been working on.
Jordan wants to continue what
the council has been doing the
past four years shes been a part
of
it: Making sure that
Moorestown is kept the special
place that we love and keep taxes
low and services high.
I wish Stacey Jordan and
Manny Delgado much success.
They are great people. I would
look forward to working with
them in any capacity that they
think I might be of service. This
election was never about politics
and only about what's best for
Moorestown. I was privileged to
be able to contribute to that discussion, Endres said.
This is not the last the citizens
of Moorestown shall see of Endres. Seeing positivity in her defeat, she shall remain active with
the many community groups she

board of Sunnybrook Swim Club.
She will also continue to educate
the community on environmental
issues and co-chair the STEM fall
festival at Strawbridge Lake.
Strawbridge Lake is a community jewel and I am determined
that we protect, maintain and improve it for the benefit of the entire Moorestown community, Endres said.
George could not be reached
for comment.
For the Board of Education,
Peter Palko, Ann Marie Casinelli
and Caryn Shaw ended up with
the most votes to receive the three
open seats. Shaw had 20.20 percent of the votes, Palko had 16.63
percent of the votes, and Casinelli
had 14.10 percent of the votes.
There were a total of 12,379 votes.
The full unofficial results from

Casinelli 1,745; Caryn Shaw 2,501;
Jack Lance 1,234; Personal Choice

In the U.S. Senate election,
Cory Booker (D) defeated Jeff
Bell (R) by a tally of 997,331 votes
to 762,981. Tom MacArthur (R) defeated Aimee Belgard (D) 95,166 to

In the freeholder election, Republicans Bruce Garganio and
