2. Hardware Requirements
The hardware prerequisites for installing Reservoir summation are same as required for Petrel
2011.1/Petrel2011.2/Petrel2012.1 64-bit.

3. SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
The software prerequisites for installing Reservoir summation are:

A 64-bit target machine with an appropriate 64-bit operating system.

Petrel 2011.1/Petrel 2011.2/Petrel2012.1 64-bit installation.

Schlumberger Licensing utility installation.
.Net Framework 3.5 for Petrel 2011.1/Petrel 2011.2
.Net Framework 4.0 for Petrel 2012.1
Required Petrel license features list (a minimum Petrel Core license is required: G-Core).

4. INSTALLING RESERVOIR SUMMATION FOR PETREL 2011.1

Following process describes the procedure for installing Reservoir summation for Petrel 2011.1. On a
target PC, that meets the prerequisites, the installation process can start at step 4.3; otherwise steps 4.1
& 4.2 must be completed before the plug-in is be installed. The steps to install the plug-in are the same
for Petrel 2011.2 and Petrel 2012.1.

Install the Petrel 2011.1 64-bit application. Petrel 64-bit application is supported on
Microsoft Windows XP Professional (64-bit) and Windows Vista.

Business/Enterprise/Ultimate (64-bit). Petrel 2011.1 64 bit is also supported on

Microsoft Windows 7 (64 bit).

Install the Schlumberger Licensing utility.

Once you have installed Petrel and Schlumberger Licensing utility, Run Petrel 2011.1 and
open Ocean Plug-in Manager from Help menu.

In Ocean Plug-in Manager dialog you can see the current plug-ins installed.

Click the Install Plug-in button and browse the directory where Reservoir summation
installer is located. Select the Reservoir summation pip file and click on Open button.

Installation window appears with a progress bar, click on Close button when
installation finished.

Reservoir summation appears in the list of current plug-ins installed.

Reservoir summation plug-in has been installed in the plugin default directory and
Petrel need to be restarted. Restart Petrel 2011 to check if Reservoir summation plug-in has
been successfully installed.

5. CHECKING THE INSTALLATION

Following process describes the procedure for checking that Reservoir summation for Petrel 2011 has
been successfully installed.
5.1

Check that the plug-in files have been correctly installed in the folder specified below.
Open a file browser and navigate to the location specified during installation.
The default location for plug-in files will be,
C:\ProgramFiles\Schlumberger\Petrel2011\Extensions\Reservoir summation_1.0.0.0
although this may be different on your PC. Check that this folder
exists and that its
contents are as follows:

The installation will add a folder in the plug-in deployment folder called Reservoir summation_1.0.0.0.

Start Petrel 2011. The 'select license package' dialog appears during start-up. An item
named Reservoir summation should appear under the Ocean plug-ins node. Check
the item labeled Reservoir summation and click OK.

5.3

When Petrel has started, go to the Processes tab and expand Plug-ins tree. Reservoir
summation should appear as shown in Screen below,

Double click on Reservoir summation and confirm that the associated
as follows:

6. UNINSTALLING RESERVOIR SUMMATION FOR PETREL 2011.1

Following process describes the procedure for uninstalling Reservoir summation for Petrel 2011.
6.1

Run the Ocean plug-in manager from the Help menu.

6.2

Select Reservoir summation

6.3

Click Uninstall.

Restart Petrel

Note: The uninstaller will only remove the Petrel plug-in and the installed files in C:\Program
Files\Schlumberger\Petrel 2011\Extensions\Reservoir summation_1.0.0.0 in the Petrel 2011
installation folder after restarting Petrel.
