Programmes
Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
Approval Code: KPT/JPS(A1815)02/15

The Association of Chartered Certified

Accountants (ACCA) is the global body
for professional accountants. We aim to
offer business-relevant, first-choice
qualifications to people of application,
ability and ambition around the world
who seek a rewarding career in
accountancy, finance and management.
ACCA is the global body for
professional accountants with 162,000
members and 428,000 students in 173
countries. We also have a network of 91
offices and centres across the world.
Our global infrastructure means that
exams and support are delivered - and
reputation and influence developed
- at a local level, directly benefiting
stakeholders wherever they are based,
or plan to move to, in pursuit of new
career opportunities. ACCAs focus is on
professional
values,
ethics,
and
governance, and it delivers value-added
services through substantial global
network of partnerships closely with
multinational and small entities to
promote global standards and support.

The expertise and experience of ACCA

are used to work with governments,
donor agencies and professional bodies
such as the International Federation of
Accountants (IFAC) to develop the
global accountancy profession and to
advance the public interest.
ACCAs reputation is grounded in over
100 years of providing world class
accounting and finance qualifications.
It champions opportunity, innovation,
diversity, integrity and accountability.
By promoting global standards, and
supporting members wherever they
work, ACCA aims to meet the current
and future needs of international
business.
ACCA understands the real issues facing
small businesses as 63,000 of its
members work in SMEs or small
partnerships worldwide. Thus, its theme
for 2009-2010 is Accountants for
Business.

This theme emphasises the important

roles accountants play in both the
private and public sectors, promoting
their role as advocates of sound
business practices, champions of
sustainable business development, and
identifiers of value drivers which lead to
high-performing organisations.
The ACCA qualification is accepted
worldwide. This acceptability will
increase as economies like China
continue to grow and impact countries
across the globe.
Graduates with this qualification will
have global employability and mobility.
In Malaysia, the demand for ACCA
professionals
is
equally
strong
forecasts by the government predict a
need for 60,000 accountants by 2020.
Currently, there are only about 30,000
accountants.

Strategic and valuable partnerships like that with HELP CAT is one of
the reasons behind ACCAs ability to flourish and produce
qualified ACCA graduates with talent, drive and ambition.

Certified Accounting Technician (CAT)

HELP CAT's location in the city makes it

a convenient choice for ACCA working
professionals to upskill themselves.
Mr Sivasathishs classes are popular
because he teaches with dedication
and passion.

Approval Code: KPT/JPS(A5062)05/15

The CAT is usually studied as an

introductory qualification prior to
training to become a Chartered
Certified Accountant through the
ACCA Professional Scheme. The
duration is one and a half years to
complete the nine CAT papers.
There is no restriction on the number
of papers that can be taken in each
sitting. The Certified Accounting
Technician is a skilled person capable
of performing highly responsible and
important jobs:

collect, check and analyse

financial information
maintain and check
financial records
receive and settle invoices
from suppliers
monitor company expenses
complete and submit tax
returns
manage the staff payroll
prepare company tax returns
record receipts and payments
audit (verifying an
organisation's accounts)
control budgets
write reports

In a small company, Accounting

Technicians may be the only
employee qualified to look after
financial records, invoices and
wages. In large companies, they are
likely to be part of a team that
includes chartered accountants,
other accounting technicians and
general administrators. In this case
they are likely to specialise in a
particular area, such as audit or tax.
Increasingly, accounting technicians
are also responsible for identifying
how a company can improve its
profits and reduce costs.
