The course aims to impart the concepts of synchronous and asynchronous machines and to
analyze their performance characteristics.
On completion of the course the students will be able to

Identify the different types of construction and performance of salient and non salient
type synchronous generators.

Analyze the principle of operation and performance of synchronous motor.

Identify the construction, principle of operation and performance of induction machines.

Select the appropriate machine from the knowledge of starting characteristics and speed
control of three-phase induction motors.

Analyse the construction, principle of operation and performance of single phase
