The course aims to impart the concepts of synchronous and asynchronous machines and to
analyze their performance characteristics.
On completion of the course the students will be able to
Identify the different types of construction and performance of salient and non salient
type synchronous generators.
Select the appropriate machine from the knowledge of starting characteristics and speed
control of three-phase induction motors.
List of Experiments:
1. Regulation of Alternator by EMF and MMF Methods
2. Regulation of Alternator by Potier Method
3. Regulation of Salient Pole Alternator
4. Load Test on Three Phase Alternator
5. Synchronization of Three Phase Alternator on Busbar
6. V- Curves for Synchronous Motor
7. Load Test on Three Phase Squirrel cage Induction Motor
8. Load Test on Three Phase Slip ring Induction Motor
9. Performance evaluation of Three-Phase Induction Motor from Circle Diagram.
10. Separation of losses for Induction Motor
11. Load Test on Three Phase Induction Generators
12. Load Tests on Single Phase Induction Motors
13. Slip test on Alternator
