Strength/ Pros
Planning / Implementation of teaching and learning sessions

For Gabriel Lance lesson on that day, his focus skill was writing. For set
induction stage, she managed to grab her students attention by playing a
video about sentences. Students enjoyed and sing along with the video. After
that, Gabriel asked some questions regarding their understanding about
sentences. I think this is a very good way to know the students background
knowledge about the subject.

For presentation stage, he manage to explain to the students about simple


sentences and also compound sentences. Students were able to understand
that simple sentences consist of just one subject and one verb, while
compound sentences usually consist of the conjunction and.

Overall, I think this lesson is well planned. The flow of the activities were
good. Students were able to achieve objective of the lesson on that day. At
the end of the lesson, they were able to write simple sentences and also
compound sentences. Gabriels lesson is very suitable for 4 Mutiara. 4
Mutiara is the first class so they need some comprehensive input to learn
better. The comprehensive input in the lesson is the compound sentences as
they learnt it the first time.

Other than that, Gabriel is a very caring and attentive teacher. He encourages
the students with some encouraging words such as Good work! Well done!
with a pat and a smile on his face. In my opinion, this is the reason that
students were very motivated to participate actively and answer the questions
that he asked.

Lastly, the time management was also good as he managed to finish the
lesson on time.

Weaknesses / Cons

Some of the weakness that I noticed in his class was that during the practice
and production stage, there was no group work for the students to interact
with each other.

Furthermore, sometimes the class become too noisy as they were very
excited to answer questions asked by Gabriel. So, many of them try to catch
Gabriels attention by raising their hands and shout for him. Therefore, the
class became difficult to control. Some of the students were very fast learner
and they managed to complete the task, and they had nothing to do so they
resorted to make noise in the classroom.

Suggestions for improvement
The implementation of teaching and learning sessions

For suggestion to improve, Gabriel can provide some group work for the
students to work together so that they can improve their interpersonal skills.
By working together, students will enjoy the class more. Other than that, by
participating in small group works, they learn the value cooperation which is
not found in the textbook.

Next, he can also introduce the classroom procedure where students must
raise their hand before they answer any questions by the teacher. Then,
teacher will call them one by one to try and answer the questions. This can
help

to

conduct

the

lesson

in

an

orderly

manner.

Other than that, as this is the first class, he can also provide extra activities for
the fast learners so that students will always be occupied. When students are
all occupied with their own work, the class will be easier to manage so the
class control will be good.
