Q.20
Solution:
According to Question the following variables are being selected:
P1= Number of units of Product 1 produced each week
P2= Number of units of Product 2 produced each week
OT= Number of hours of overtime labor used each week
RM= Number of units of Raw Material Purchased each week
A1= Dollars spend each week on advertising product 1
A2= Dollars spend each week on advertising product 2
Well use the Linear Programming model to solve the given problem.
Objective: Maximize the objective function
Maximize Z: 15 P1 + 8 P2 6 OT 1.5 RM A1 A2
Subject to:
a) Total expenditure on Advertisement should not exceed $100
A1 + A2 <= 100
b) Total Machine hours cant exceed 320 per week
1.5 P1 + 0.8 P2 <= 320
c) Total Raw material per week cant exceed 400 units
RM <= 400
d) Raw Material Equation
2 P1 + P2 RM <= 0
e) Labor hour constraint
0.75 P1 + 0.5 P2 OT <= 160
f) Advertisement spend on product 1
P1 10 A1 <= 50
g) Advertising spend on product 2
P2 - 15 A2 <= 60

Step 1: Open Tora and Feed the objective function and constraints

Step 2: Run to get the solutions for required Variables and objective function

As per the output of iterations,

Maximum Value of Objective function, Z = 2427.67
P1= Number of units of Product 1 produced each week = 160
P2= Number of units of Product 2 produced each week = 80
OT= Number of hours of overtime labor used each week = 0
RM= Number of units of Raw Material Purchased each week = 400
A1= Dollars spend each week on advertising product 1 = 11
A2= Dollars spend each week on advertising product 2 = 1.33

Spring Garden Case:

Solution:
Well start with formulation of Linear Programming Model:
Let Ri denote the regular production of item i in stage 1
R1 = Regular production of trowel in stage 1
R2 = hoe
R3 = rake
R4 = shovel
Let Si denote the subcontracting of item i in stage 1

S1 = Subcontracting of Trowel in stage 1

S2 = hoe
S3 = rake
S4 = shovel
Let Xi denotes he responsibility of product i in stage 1
X1 = Trowel
X2 = Hoe
X3 = rake
X4 = shovel
Ai denotes the regular production of item I at stage 2
A1 = Trowel
A2 = hoe
A3 = rake
A4 = shovel
Let Yi denotes the overtime production of product i
Y1 = Trowel
Y2 = Hoe
Y3 = Rake
Y4 = Shovel

The objective function would be:
