"The party system in America, pretending to be the genuine expression of

alternative ideals, merely gives the people an illusion of choice between two
evils. Both parties are organized gangs, made up of men of low character
thoroughly conversant with the power that such organization gives for the
attainment of wealth and position."

—Sir Oliver Brett, A Defence of Liberty, 1920

The two-party morass

TARP 1, TARP 2, bailout here, bailout there— there is no essential

difference between Republican and Democratic administration. The deficit is 1
trillion, and probably wouldn’t be much different if George W. was still at the
wheel. The US political class wears two different colors but takes money from the
same people, and consequently, does bidding for the same financial elite who
really doesn’t care who wins the elections—they have both players on a payroll.
The economic life of the USA has been organized to give the maximum
advantage to the small money aristocracy at expense of a vast majority of
Americans. Crumbs are being thrown for the masses, keeping them in state of
dependency, but the mechanism is geared to extract money from the productive—blue
or white collar—people for the benefit of money centers. Nothing changed since the
Democratic administration has taken over; the unimaginable amount of money is
still being thrown into the landfills created by big banks, the money that our
grandchildren will pay.

My conclusion is that none of the existent parties is capable of reforming.

The corrupt people and structures will not turn on their masters. We need a new
movement, originating from the basic ideas of the Constitution:

1. Sound money (gold anyone?),

2. Small and non-intrusive government
3. Banks kept at arms length from the power centers— as per Thomas Jefferson:
"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of
their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks...will deprive
the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent
their fathers conquered.... The issuing power should be taken from the banks and
restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."
4. Social issues left to individual consciousness or, perhaps, states. I don’t
want to hear from politicians the words like: God, religion, gay, abortion etc.
Not that these issues are not important, but they should not be the mechanism for
vote getting (I am afraid the Republican Party is hopelessly lost here.)

Maybe I am alone in my belief, but unless we have a new force to demolish the old
rotten shack, we can’t start building the new house resting on strong and rational
foundation.
Blueberry voting or signup drives will not make me go to the polls unless I can
see someone who can truly represent my aspiration and ideas, none of the present
parties do. I hope someone will emerge, soon.
