What is your gender?

I asked 6 females and 4 males because females are my
primary target audience with males of the same age
range my secondary target audience. All the people
asked were aged between 14 and 18 because this is
the age range I am aiming at.

Have you ever purchased a music magazine?

80% of people I asked had purchased a music
magazine and 20% hadnt this was good because it let
me see both what people who already brought music
magazines would want in and from a new music
magazine and it also gives me an insight to what
people who had never brought a music magazine
would want in and from it.

How often would you purchase a music

magazine?
50% of people asked said that they would purchase a
monthly edition, 20 said they would purchase one
every other month, and then 10% said Never, Weekly
and Fortnightly. This has shown me that to appeal to
my target audience I will release my magazine as a
monthly issue.

How much would you be willing to pay for a music magazine?

I am going to price my
magazine in between 2.00 2.99 because this is what the
majority of my target
audience would be willing to
pay. No one said they would
be willing to pay between
4.00 and over 5 so if it
would not appeal to my target
audience then it wouldnt be
sensible to price my magazine
at the price. 10% said that
they would pay between
1.00 - 1.99 but I am going to
stick with the majority.

Do you like the rock or pop punk genre?

90% liked some part of the genre I am
basing my magazine on so this was positive
as it meant I was asking the right target
audience for my magazine. In the Some
bands option it was open ended so the
participant could list some bands that they
liked from the genre. Some of the bands
mentioned repeatedly were Neck Deep,
Real Friends, The Story So Far and The
Wonder Years so I will try to incorporate
some of these bands, and similar bands, in
my magazine.

roughly once a month which suggests
that they are very into their music also it

means that having a gig guide and gig

reviews in my magazine would be
suitable for my target audience and
would aim at them. 20% said that went
every other month and 20% they went a
couple of times a year so again my
magazine would apply to them as part of my target audience.

Which articles are the

most important for you?
In my magazine I will focus on
articles about: Band news; Tour
Dates, and Gig News. I will also
use lots of photographs as this
was important to 15% of my
target market which I surveyed
and I want to appeal to as many
people in my target market as
possible.

Which three colours do you think would make a good colour scheme?
I thought that Black, Red and
white would be the best colour
scheme so I was happy when the
majority of the participants in my
survey suggested it as a good
colour scheme for my magazine. I
personally dont think Black,
Yellow and Blue would make a
good colour scheme so I wouldnt
have gone with those three
colours as a colour scheme

On the front cover how many people would you want in the main image?
I will most likely use just one person in
my main image because this is what
70% of the people I asked said would
be the most appealing so I think it
would be the best idea to do that,
although I think it may be good to do
a whole band as the main image, but I
think I will go with the majority
because as a new magazine I want to
develop the branding and appeal to as
many people I can without steering
away from my target market.

My questionnaire will of gotten me valid results because the questions I asked were not
leading so they will of been able to answer with their honest opinion and also because I
asked people who are in the target market so my research is relevant to what I want to do.
