In the mid 1980s a team of passionate designers embarked

on a remarkable journey. They travelled to America and
integrated themselves into an exclusive neighbourhood to
better understand the intricacies of privileged lifestyles.
Designers visited upscale boutiques and exclusive country
clubs to discover the true essence of western style
and to learn what luxury vehicle buyers really wanted.
They observed how a new definition of luxury was
permeating American society. Fashion, design and
architecture were being reshaped by younger, more
affluent professionals who were turning their backs on
conventional luxury vehicles, seeking a more rewarding
driving experience. Such a fact-finding mission was

followed by one of the most extensive development

programs ever undertaken by a motor vehicle company.
The end result was the Lexus LS 400, a vehicle that
ultimately redirected the course of luxury vehicle design,
elegance and performance.
In subsequent years, Lexus observed how another revolution
was quietly unfolding. Certain luxury vehicle buyers wanted
more freedom to pursue more stimulating journeys along less
conventional routes. So Lexus created the RX and in doing so,
took a firm foothold in an entirely new automotive category,
the luxury crossover vehicle. Today the passion of Lexus
engineers to explore new territory continues unabated with
the emergence of the very latest expression of the RX.

Meanwhile, the Lexus commitment to ground breaking

design has forged ahead into bold new territory,
evidenced by the unveiling of the LF-CC coupe concept at
the Paris Motor Show. More recently, the RC F Coupe has
been stealing the limelight at the worlds auto shows.
With its 330+kW, 5 Litre V8 engine, the RC F is propelling
Lexus firmly onto the performance coupe stage and
capturing the attention of the worlds motoring critics.

When the first RX slipped elegantly onto the global scene

in 1998, a unique journey was about to unfold.

of individuals, intent on extracting the most out of life while

unobtrusively accommodating lifes necessities.

Equally capable of taking you to high trails as well as the

high street, the Lexus RX presented a tantalising prospect
of redefining the perception of SUV luxury. Once redefined
in the mind, it was time to redefine it in the heart and soul.

As each ensuing RX model attained more capabilities and

charisma than the last, further honours quickly followed.
Winning Best Luxury 4WD in the Australias Best Cars
awards in 2003, 2004 and 2005 were just some of them.
Performance capabilities increased as willingly as luxury
levels and the RX excelled in the complex lifestyles of more
discerning individuals.

The very first RX 300 put luxury into a new package and took
it places it had seldom ventured. All Wheel Drive coupled
with refined ride dynamics allowed the RX to offer one of
the most extraordinary gifts of all the ability to explore a life
more carefree and fulfilling. It promptly garnered industry
accolades as readily as admiration from a new generation

style and design
This is not a discreet, mild mannered luxury SUV. A team of passionate designers
has evolved the original Lexus L-finesse design philosophy further to make an
even bolder statement. Engineering brilliance fuses with the elegance of contour
and colour resulting in a cohesive design that demands attention.
Your first impression of the RX is the striking spindle-shaped grille which slices
through the frontal persona, reflecting the latest dramatic development of the
design language that is reshaping todays Lexus vehicles.
An explosion of confident, robust curves inflicts strong geometric contours to the
body design. The grille flows seamlessly into large headlamp units punctuated
by integrated LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL). The RX 450h Sports Luxury
looks further into the future as two LED beams replace conventional headlamps.
Fashion meets function as the Lexus badge in the grille also serves as part of the
radar sensor, integral in the safety technologies inherent in F Sport and Sports
Luxury models. While such a demeanour captures attention, it caresses the wind
with a sleek 0.32 coefficient of drag.
Dramatic contours are also displayed in the rear, leading to a sleek tail light design.
Such elegance is complemented on Luxury models by alloy wheels displaying a
machined finish, while Sports Luxury variants ride on a sophisticated 10-spoke
alloy wheel design.
Should you choose the F Sport, the front bumper displays a more vigorous
personality complemented by mesh grilles. Multi-spoke 19" alloy wheels with a
dark chrome finish reveal a more extroverted side to the RXs personality. Inside,
sports pedals and an F Sport steering wheel enhance driving performance, while
the RX 350 has the added driving exhilaration of paddle shifters.

The seats have been sculpted to cradle your body with
utmost support. Touch the power adjustment buttons
and the front seats move to suit your individual torso.
Three position memory settings ensure each minute
adjustment is remembered for your next journey (except
lumbar), together with your mirror and steering wheel
settings. Elegant curves flow across the door panels,

neatly integrating essential controls. Intelligent design

continues on the instrument panel, where the Electro
Multi-Vision (EMV) display has been positioned at eye
level, for minimal eye movement and maximum visibility as
you drive. Once you have plotted your route on the EMV
display, spoken directions guide you to your destination.

Slip into the driving seat and prepare for a new experience in
refined adventure seeking. A reassuring sense of being in touch
and in control is simply a click away via the Lexus Remote Touch
Controller (LRT). As intuitive as a computer mouse it puts a
range of controls, from fine tuning audio levels to finding your
destination, right at your fingertips. The controller has been
ergonomically shaped with a concave centre, providing a
comfortable recess for your fingers, ensuring precise control.
You can view your speed, gear selection, shift mode and more
without ever taking your eyes off the road. Touch a switch on the
steering wheel and the audio system responds to your spoken
commands whilst your iPod(2) is connected via USB. Your RX can
even stream audio from your Bluetooth(3) connected phone.
When you want your voice to travel further, in-built Bluetooth(3)
helps you answer the call, offering hands-free communication
with utmost clarity.
Your ears are seduced by a 12-speaker audio system in Luxury
and F Sport models equipped with the audio precision of a Class
D digital amplifier. You can play CDs or DVDs, or the USB input
allows you to connect your iPod(2) for an expansive music
library, then view album artwork on the Electro Multi-Vision
display. The Digital Radio (DAB+) (4) benefits from more channels
and clearer sound than conventional radio.

In Sports Luxury models and F Sport with Enhancement Pack 1,

an audiophile system incorporating 15 speakers is the creation
of a free thinker named Mark Levinson. Music lovers will revel
in the purity of this breathtaking high technology system which
can make a drive to the supermarket feel like a night at the opera.
Should you be driving the hybrid-equipped RX 450h, Drive
Mode Select allows you to change the personality of your vehicle
depending on your mood. Select ECO or NORMAL and the
interior lighting is a soothing blue, and a Hybrid System Indicator
is displayed on the instrument panel.
Switch to SPORT mode and the instrument display switches
to a dynamic red colour, the steering and throttle response
become more immediate and your driving experience takes on
a sportier dimension.

When you feel protected, you feel empowered. In RX, such

a sense of comfort comes from knowing smart technologies
lie in wait, ready to deal with a plethora of situations.
Take the package of 10 Supplemental Restraint System
(SRS) Airbags. As comprehensive as it appears, the real
beauty is the manner in which each airbag responds.
For instance, dual stage front airbags react according to
the level of impact. The front passengers twin chamber
acts like two cushions side by side which spread the
collision force. Rear impacts are dealt with by forward
thinking, as active headrests actually move forward and
upward to help reduce the risk of whiplash injuries.
Since the more stimulating journeys are often travelled
on twisty rural roads, Vehicle Dynamics Integrated
Management (VDIM) can anticipate a slide and take

vehicle cross your path. In emergency situations, the
Pre-Collision Safety System (PCS)(6) detects when a crash

The Lexus Hybrid Drive (LHD) uses the spontaneous high torque of the electric motor from rest for starting.
For cruising in the high speed range, it utilises the efficient power of the petrol engine. The management system
carefully selects the optimum combination of the petrol engine and electric motor to maximise fuel efficiency

Immerse yourself in the smooth leather accented interior in
Luxury models. On longer journeys, youll appreciate how
the circular perforations allow the seat inserts to breathe,
helping keep you feeling refreshed. Sports Luxury models are
distinguished by a leather accented interior with an elegant
diamond perforation treatment. All model grades feature bold
contrasting stitching for added style.
Step into the F Sport models and youre greeted by a black
leather accented interior offset by a bolder F Sport stitching
technique, while silver mouldings instil added panache.

The elegant contours of the door trims are punctuated by

the sleek gloss of Abyss black mouldings in Luxury models.
In Sports Luxury, an air of classic elegance is evoked by a
woodgrain-look steering wheel and accents on the door
trims presented in Dark Grey Birds Eye Maple or Walnut.
RX 450h Sports Luxury has a distinct personality in
keeping with its environmental status. Its selection of
woodgrain-look trims extends to natural bamboo, a rapidly
renewable and sustainable plantation timber.

Yet the comfort youll experience in the RX goes much

deeper than trims and finishes, resulting in levels of
refinement which may seem quite out of character for

Ownership Solutions allows you to determine your finance costs and know the
Guaranteed Future Value (GFV) + of your vehicle from the outset. It offers you choice,
control and certainty. In short, everything youd expect from Lexus.
How does Ownership Solutions work?
You choose the deposit that best fits your needs.
You choose your term.++
We agree on the estimated kilometres you think the vehicle
will have travelled at the end of the term (the End Odometer).
The End Odometer will also include any kilometres already
on the vehicle.
Lexus Financial Services (LFS) then determines the GFV of
your vehicle. The GFV is the minimum value of your Lexus at
the end of your finance contract. Your monthly repayments
are then calculated based on the above information with a
final payment equal to your GFV. Then, if you return your
Lexus at the end of the term and satisfy the agreed terms
and conditions, LFS will pay you the GFV which will be put
against the final payment.
The end of the term? Simply replace, retain or return.
At the end of your term you can choose to:
Replace or sell your Lexus using the trade-in value or sale
price to pay the remaining balance of your account.
Retain your Lexus and simply pay the remaining balance of
your account (including final payment).
Alternatively, return your Lexus and, subject to fair wear and
tear conditions and the agreed kilometres being met, well
put the GFV towards the final payment on your account.
Choosing your deposit what is best for you?
With the flexibility of Ownership Solutions, you can choose
the deposit that best fits your current needs.
If, for example, you have funds tied up in other investments, you
can choose to finance your new Lexus with a zero deposit.+
Alternatively, by using a larger deposit you can lower your
monthly repayments.
Better still, compared to other finance options over a similar
term, Ownership Solutions can provide more affordable
monthly repayments.+++

Want more certainty?

With Ownership Solutions youve got the reassurance that
at the end of the term (subject to fair wear and tear and
agreed kilometres being met) youll never owe more than
your vehicles worth to LFS. In other words, you dont have
to worry about what your vehicle will be worth in the future
because you know its minimum value from the outset.
What happens in the case of the unexpected?
If your vehicle incurs damage and does not meet the Fair Wear
and Tear guidelines, LFS will give you the opportunity to have
your vehicle repaired. Otherwise, LFS can organise the repairs
and deduct the cost from your GFV. This adjusted GFV will
then be the price that LFS will offer you if you return the vehicle
at the end of your term. Of course, if you retain the vehicle,
the condition doesnt matter, however, if you replace it or sell it
privately the condition will obviously impact your sale price.
So what does your accountant think?
Naturally, we think Ownership Solutions is an excellent,
innovative way to put you in control of buying a new Lexus.
