METHODOLOGY

In this section, the research will be explained in detail about the process of designing
The Wind Turbine .In the first stage, the initial research was carried out to obtain basic
knowledge of the design of the project. The survey will be conducted using experiments and
observations in the field of engineering in which it covers the construction of the framework,
how it works and selection of design concepts in the completion of this project.

DESIGN SPECIFICATION

To produce a design that works well and is compatible with the actual design
concepts, features and design that suits the best to be produced. At the first stage, we have to
draw some designs suitable as a reference. Then, get the right size and dimensions by using a
number of measurement tools such as rulers..

MATERIAL SELECTION
The materials selection is an important aspect of this design because it will determine
the durability and suitability of some material. In the design phase should be taken seriously
in the selection of materials that are chosen correctly.

REQUIREMENTS

The components that needed in this project:

I.

1.5 litre mineral water bottle

II.

600 ml mineral water bottle

III.

Cable ties

IV.

Scissor

V.

Blade knife

VI.

A nail

VII.

Lighter

VIII.

Marker pen

3.7.1 Fabrication process

Firstly, we set up all the materials and equipment that we want to use. Then, we
measure the 600 ml mineral water bottle and marked the place that we want to cut to make the
propeller.

After we have cut the 600 ml mineral water bottle, we once again take a fine point black felt
permanent marker and lay out the fin design on the 1.5 litre mineral water bottle. We divided
the size of the fin into 4 with the same size and spacing between them. The bigger the fin the
easier the bottle to catch the air. Hence, we choose to make it into big fin. Then cut the bottle
using the blade knife. Cut only the sides of the turbine fins which have been marked with the
marker pen earlier. Do not cut or push the blade, gently pierce the plastic and draw the blade
easily along the lines and we have to beware because this blades can slip and cut deeply. Very
pointy sharp scissors might work but not as good as having the blade knife to cut. The bottles
bend, move, and crackle so its going to be very tricky to cut, so beware of this. After cutting
out the fins, bend each one so it stands out from the bottle. This will catch more wind and spin
the bottle very fast.

Then tie the 600 ml mineral water bottle at the bottom of the 1.5 litre mineral water bottle
with cable ties. In order to tie it we need to make a little hole at the bottle and bend a little of
the cable tie so that it will be easier to cable tie being grab and tied to the bottle. After that,
get a nail and place the lighter on it so that it will be easier to make a hole at the bottle cap and
the bottom of the bottle because the bottles were made up from plastic. Then bend some iron
hanger for the shaft and make a base for the bottle and place it through the hole of the bottle
and cap that we were just make.
