Preface
This is an edition of Nicholas Bruhnss (16651697) cantata Mein Hertz is bereit. Bruhns was a pupil of Dietrich
Buxtehude (1637-1707), and that is probably why the source for this cantata has survived. The original used for this
transcription is named M:60 in the Wenster collection in the University Library of Lund, Sweden. The collection
was assembled by Gottfried Lindemann (?1741), who may have studied for Gottfried Klingenberg, another pupil of
Buxtehude, in Stettin (now Szczecin) before he moved to Karlshamn, Sweden, in 1713, taking his music collection
with him.
This cantata is the only preserved music by Bruhns, who was known as a virtuoso on both the violin and organ,
which features a solo violin part. He was known to be able to play the bass line on the organ with his feet while
playing multiple stops on the violin. Imagine that first Adagio-Presto-Andante...
The purpose of this edition, as well as all other music released by me, is a combination of me trying to learn more
about 17:th and 18:th century music, and, at the same time, helping other people to get hold of interesting and
