Course Information
Course title Enterprise Resource Computing
Course number MIS 6319 Sec 501
Course This course introduces students to typical business processes seen in large corporations,
description with typical transaction documents in various functional areas such as sales, purchasing,
and production. The SAP R/3 system serves as an enterprise model for data and
processes. This model emphasizes the integration between the different functional areas.
This course also covers managerial issues in ERP using an ERP life cycle approach.
Topics such as selection of ERP and implementation approach are covered. Assignments
and in-class exercises will include exercises and demos in SAP R/3 and ERP case analysis.

• Please submit print-outs of assignments/exercises in class.
• All submitted course requirements must be your own work. Check out UTD webpage for details regarding
academic integrity and honesty.

Course Requirements
Grading will be based on a scale from A+ to F. Maximum possible points are 300. The approximate cutoffs
for A-B-C are 280-255-225. Points less than 225 will be awarded a fail grade in the course.
The course requirements include
• case/article assignments for 15 points,
• one term paper/project for 50 points,
• three non-comprehensive exams for 45 points each,
• three quizzes (on case assignment days) for 15 points,
• SAP exercises for 75 points, and
• Classroom participation for 10 points.

The Term Paper/Project


Groups of 2 or 3 students will conduct 1) two transactional exercises on R/3 SD and procurement modules
each. Use help available at help.sap.com. 2) conduct one configuration exercise each on pricing and
availability check. 3) conduct an integrated scenario that overlaps several modules. I will provide more
guidance on this project during the semester.
