Hi, This is Evelyn, Cynthia and Sacha, program coordinators for Avenue D Afro-Latino Dance group.

This year Avenue D Afro Latino Dance Group-- are organizing Our first fiesta de tres Reyes (Three
King celebration). The goal is to provide gifts (winter-related gear) for our dance participants and
volunteers -30 children in total.
Since November 2013, in conjunction with City of Rochester, IADC Project HOPE and Grupo Cultural
Latinos En Rochester. Our dancer were working with, community organizations, and schools, to
entertain and support many community initiatives. Unfortunately 80% of our dancers life in poverty
and we want to give back to them. Right now, we are working on our first 2015 Avenue D AfroLatino Dance Group Fiesta de Reyes Sponsor Drive this will the biggest project of the year for us.

We are sending you this message, because we are really struggling to get all our
children taken care of, for Christmas this year and we decided to celebrate instead

on Da de Reyes, to get some extra time.

So we want to get in touch & try to do some convincing, to see if you would at least consider helping
us out by sponsoring one or a few of our kids. We still have too many children left out, with very little
time left.

Please fill out the child sponsor form on the next page and send it to Evelyn,
Cynthia or Sacha so they can mark the kids off the list. *Please help if you can.

We are grateful for your consideration and any help that you can give us so that we can bring joy and
excitement to our participants that have done a lot for our community, deserve so much, and have so
little.
We are also collecting all winter-related gear... If you have any items available for donation, please
send us a message.
Please keep our number and let us know if you ever need anything or come across any children that we
might be able to help.
Have A Great Day!

Thanks so much,
Evelyn DAgostino

Although is a dance group, it is also an organization focuses on create awareness for issues that
are affecting our community. Many of our activities are designed to involve the entire family,
volunteers, to promote our shared valued and help develop the next generation of community
leaders.

More about the Avenue D Afro Latino Dance program:

The Afro-Latino Dance Group at Avenue D Community Center is a jointly sponsored project
by the City of Rochester, Grupo Cultural Latinos en Rochester, and Ibero-American
Development Corporation through Project HOPE. Youth in this community need more
access to culturally inclusive activities that provide opportunities for physical fitness. The
project has two main objectives: 1.) To educate youth about Latino culture and African
diaspora and 2.) To engage youth in physical activity through dance.
Many youth walk in the door at the Avenue D Community Center with social, physical,
and emotional needs. Some have not eaten since school lunch. Some are living in extreme
poverty with heavy struggles at home. Others are being occupied while mom works a second
or third job. This project goes beyond just dance and physical activity. The target age range is
from 5 to 18 years of age. The dance group provides an outlet for youth and helps them build
up their confidence, self-esteem and self-discipline. As a result of this project, youth will have
an opportunity to showcase their talents, learn teamwork and appreciate arts and cultures more,.
Alongside the components of this effort, the Avenue D Community Center has developed
lessons in etiquette, conflict resolution, and other life skills as added value to our youth
participants. All of these components have an impact on neighborhood residents and youth
alike. Neighborhood youth needs this additional structure and relationship building time.
This project will also serve to establish a strong foundation and act as leverage to other
opportunities. The dedication of parents, volunteers, youth and partners lend a unique
opportunity to build this amazing program.
