Morning Jolt . . . with Jim Geraghty

December 12, 2014
Cr-Omnibus . . . Maybe It was Cr-Inevitable from the Beginning
There are a lot of things wrong with the Cromnibus -- starting with the fact that its
called the Cromnibus. But a tale like this one is only going to exacerbate Republicans
lack of faith in House Speaker John Boehner:
Representative Marlin Stutzman (R., Ind.) accused House Republican
leadership of reneging on a deal made with him to get his support on a
crucial procedural vote that almost killed the $1.1 trillion cromnibus.
I was very surprised and even more disappointed to see the cromnibus
back on the floor, Stutzman said in a Thursday evening statement. The
American people deserve better.
Stutzman was one of the last Republicans to cast his ballot in favor of a
rule allowing the House to vote on the cromnibus. National Review
Online reported that Stutzman backed the rule at the last minute after
leadership told him that they would pull the cromnibus, once the rule
was passed, and replace it with a short-term continuing resolution
favored by rank-and-file conservatives. With the last-minute help of
Stutzman and outgoing Representative Kerry Bentivolio (R., Mich.),
leadership won the vote 214-212.
After President Obama came out in favor of the cromnibus, Republican
leaders spent the day whipping their members and hoping that
Democrats would deliver the requisite number of votes.
Dont agree to accept payment Tuesday for a hamburger today.
If youre disappointed that Republicans didnt get more out of this compromise deal,
Kevin Glass points out how the media ensures the GOP has minimal leverage in all highstakes budget negotiations:
During last years government shutdown when Republicans and
Democrats couldnt come to a compromise on spending provisions to
continue to fund the government, the media portrayed it as Ted Cruzs
fault -- Ted Cruzs shutdown, because he wanted to defund Obamacare.
This year, Sen. Elizabeth Warren wants to reject the bipartisan spending
compromise to get rid of business-friendly deregulatory provisions.

469

But this year, its not about Elizabeth Warrens plan to shut down the government.
No, the media cant bring themselves to go there. Instead of Why
Democrats Want to Shut Down the Government, we get Warren tells
House Dems not to support omnibus. Instead of Elizabeth Warren and
the shutdown caucus, we get Spending bill teeters amid Democratic
discontent. Instead of Elizabeth Warren Is Protesting the Shutdown
She Asked For we have Elizabeth Warren Joins Revolt Against Wall
Street Deal In Government Shutdown Talks.
Last year, Ted Cruzs push against the government spending deal was all
about how Ted Cruz wants a shutdown. But when Elizabeth Warren
threatens to torpedo a spending deal that will result in a shutdown, its
all about her courage in standing up to Wall Street and her populist
movement against fat cats. Everyone loves a good story about
intrapartisan fighting on Capitol Hill, but only the media wants to hide
that whats behind Elizabeth Warrens crusade is that she wants to shut
down the government to achieve her goals.
The Coming Democratic Civil War
Keep in mind, while the media loves to spotlight Republican infighting, Democratic
infighting is probably only going to get more intense in the next two years:
What Pelosis revolt made clear is that while there will be more
Republicans in the House and Senate come January, nothing can get
done (or at least nothing can get done easily) without some portion of
liberal Democrats on board. This was a warning to the White House and
Senate Democrats not to cut Pelosi out or take her (or her liberal
Democratic allies) for granted going forward.
Point made.
When I see stories like this one, I cant help but suspect that this White House is willing
to enjoy some Clinton triangulation that doesnt require much effort on their part -- just
some loud complaining and unrealistic expectations on the part of their liberal allies:
Obamas base said he tried to sell them outand didnt even wait to do
it until Republicans officially expand their majority in the House and
take over the Senate come January. And some on the left worried the
wide range of policy riders in a spending bill were a worrisome sign as
Republicans take over the Senate next year and are already urging
Obama to steel himself and ready his veto pen for whats to come.
We gave Democrats in the House multiple opportunities to negotiate
the best deal they could get, White House press secretary Josh Earnest
said late Thursday on MSNBC, explaining why the president and others
were whipping votes. The good news is they got a pretty good deal.
470

Few liberals saw things his way. The White Houses support for the
measure sent them into a rage, including a very rare and blunt split
between Pelosi and the president which began when a White House
statement landed in Washington inboxes on Thursday afternoon. The
message from the president: The bill has plenty to scoff at, but you
should vote for it anyway.
Im enormously disappointed the White House feels the only way they
could get a bill is to go along with this, Pelosi said Thursday afternoon,
coming to the floor to declare that she wouldnt be voting for the bill so
long as it includes the Dodd-Frank rollback blackmail.

Rush Limbaugh Echo for Friday, 12/12/14

Open: Were supposed to be entertained by Democrats?
_____________________________________________________________
Seg#1: Were excited about Democrat division? Boehner w/ Obama!
John Boehner just squandered the election landslide! Before we get into that, a Boston time capsule
was hidden away. Go to the Rush Revere website and see that pre-teens are excited about the time
capsule news! Five, six, and seven year olds are all excited, and it is a huge oasis of hope for Kathryn and
me.
Everything personal and SONY company-related is being revealed on a hacker attack. SONY co-chairman
Amy Pascal married an editor at The New York Times. She eMailed her employee Scott Ruden and asked
what she should say about Obama, going to a fundraising. She is a powerful woman in America, and
called Sharpton and Rev Jackson to accept responsibility for the racially charged language.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amy_Pascal
((Parody of Justice Brothers (Sharpton & Rev Jackson) speaking on their megaphones. Whats in your
eggnog, yo aint making any sense at all.)) When you get in bed with the justice brothers, it means
giving them some cash.
If this were 25 years ago, I would be laughing; now, it is the crumbling of decency. Hollywood execs and
the CEO of SONY feel like they have to grovel.
We are supposed to be excited about Democrats arguing with other Democrats? Boehner goes along
with $1.1TRILLION. Elizabeth Warren is being credited by lo info voters for standing up for the little
guy. Corporate donors can now go up to $375,000 to eliminate the Tea Party. The Tea Party groups
cannot compete.

471

Indiana Republican Martin Stutzman was lied to by the Republican leadership, to get his support for the
Omnibus Budget. The American people deserve better. He was one of the last to support and pass
the rule at the last minute. There was one other. Republican leadership told him they would pull the full
bill and pass a short-term, and take up the entire bill in January.
>>> The two needed Republicans were flat-out lied to get their votes.
>>> And we are supposed to be happy about Democrat bickering?

The Stutzman vote got them to 213 tied; and then next switch allowed the rule to be passed, and bring
us Christmas. Elizabeth Warren threatens to lead the Democrat rebellion in the Senate and not pass it.
>>> Some in media praise her as representing the Little Guy.
Update: Dems bail out Boehner, help pass cromnibus, 219-206

Seg#3: John Boehner stands with Obama on Amnesty/Budget
The Senate is not done in thisflame-thrower Elizabeth Warren is there. Despite the slanted nature of
the reporting, it is not a done deal.
President Obama and John Boehner want a bill that their respective bases reject. Republicans dont
want Obama Amnesty nor the $1.1TRILLION Budget. Democrats dont want some of the breaks,
Elizabeth Warren doesnt like relaxation of Dodd-Frank to benefit Wall Street.
We are back to 2007-2008, establishment backing Ms Hillary, and out of the Blue, comes B.H.Obama.
The Left has been driven insane with hatred to Wall Street, Corporate America, Military, and The Rich.
It is being reported that Obama is being abandoned. Obamacare is why they lost the last election.
Chuck You Schumer, Tom Harken, and others dont like Obama now; It is John Boehner picking up the
slack for Obama. Democrats have lost BIG in the last two elections, still not accurately reported in DbM.
W-Post has an article calling Obamas last term as Malaise like Jimmy Carters second term. All the
comparisons are made in The Washington Post.
Remember, Hillary tries to separate herself from Obama foreign policy. Elizabeth Warren also thinks she
doesnt need Obamas support. DbM asks if they are right, run without Obama. DbM is fully invested
with Obama and they are curious but not happy with the fallout.
The Democrat base does not want Wall Street deregulated.
Another story out there is that the Republicans will shut down the dpt of Homeland Security if they
dont get their way w/ Amnesty/border.
It is John Boehner that stands with Obama.
>>> Ask yourself, Why are the Democrats supporting John Boehner?

Seg#11: Obama could now deliver Carters Malaise Speech
CNN reports another leak about SONY executive calling an actress a whore. These are the nice,
sensitive, tolerant, enlightened, and kind people?
Caller-Black-eloquent-Grandma: My 11yr-old granddaughter has become an activist and was invited to
DC, where she told our rep to not raise taxes, and he agreed. She learned about taxation from your
books.
And your history professor husband attests to the accuracy of the books.
My public education was not as distorted as it is todaybut I did not learn the complete story of
Pilgrims, Wm Bradford, and the whole story of Thanksgiving.
After being called a whore by Instagram from SONY executives, I own my brand, and brush ignorance
off my shoulder, says Kevin Hart. He is Black and stars in an upcoming SONY movie. He wants a larger
cut.
Liberals sit on their perch of higher intelligence, in their own minds.
Stories get close to calling the Obama 2nd term as being close to Malaise of the Jimmy Carter 2nd term.
Everybody agrees the Carter ending was a total disaster. Pat Cadell was the pollster for Jimmy Carter in
1979, and explained it to President Carter: People no longer believe their future will be better for their
children. People concluded their best days were behind them. That is when Carter delivered his speech
which some called, Carters Malaise Speech.
It is the same today when people say The American Dream is over. 64% say it is not getting better; only
49% think next year will be better. To recap, Americans have hit a low point in their belief that hard
work pays off.
W-Post: Democrats are learning to loathe themselves, just like Republicans. 76% like their party,
compared to 78% of Republicans like their party. ((Reading: Democrats have a dim view, a malaise.))
What Democrats want, doesnt work.
No wonder they have a deep malaise: Six years with Obama, not working.
There never will be Utopia, unending income equality. The things they want are humanly impossible.
There is another article.
>>>
These articles all come after the election:
>>>>> They are meant to tie to Republican victories.

From the Rush Limbaugh Morning Update: "Four Bucks"
A guy named Ben Edelman is the nephew of Marian Wright Edelman -- the far-left founder of the
Children's Defense Fund and a big Hillary Clinton friend. Now clearly, Mr. Edelman is a member of liberal
royalty, as you'll see.

473

He recently ate at the Sichuan Garden, a Chinese restaurant in Boston. Edelman, is an associate
professor at Harvard Business School, thought he was overcharged $4 for his meal. The restaurant, a
small business, said it was a mistake -- their online menu prices hadn't been updated. They offered to
make up the difference.
Not good enough. At Harvard, Ben Edelman teaches business. He is also known as "The Internet Sheriff"
-- a fraud expert who consults for Microsoft and the NFL. And he is liberal royalty. So he wasn't about to
take crap from some little Chinese restaurant that overcharged him $4.
In a series of lengthy emails -- Edelman accused the restaurant of committing a major violation of
Massachusetts' consumer protection laws. First he demanded a $12 refund -- claiming he could recover
triple damages by law. Then he demanded a 50% refund on his $60 meal.
He then threatened government action to compel the restaurant to "identify all consumers affected and
to provide refunds to all of them." The restaurant made multiple offers to settle with Mr. Edelman, in
vain. Finally, the day after his pompous emails were published -- to widespread scorn -- Mr. Edelman
apologized.
If only arrogant, entitled liberals cared about taxpayer dollars half as much as they do their own dollars,
why, we'd have no deficit, folks.

" 'Okay, Rush, so what should the Republicans do?' The right thing to do is to do the right thing, and save
the country, and you know full well you have a majority of voters behind you. That's what they elected
you to do! To hell with what the media says about you. To hell what the Democrats do. It's nutcracker
time, in more ways than one."
"I really think Hillary Clinton is mostly hype. It doesn't mitigate the fact that she's there and she's been in
positions of power, but it does provide some confidence. There's no reason to be afraid of her."
"Liberals are basically a bunch of braggarts who have high expectations of themselves but assume that
people unlike them just can't do anything."
"When an increase in budget spending is not as much as Democrats had hoped for, they call it a 'cut.'
You could spend 5% more next year than this, and if they expected it would increase 8%, they'd call it a
3% budget cut, when in reality it was a 5% increase."

474

"I know a little bit about drawing a crowd. I know a little bit about connecting with an audience, and I
know that Hillary doesn't have an audience connection. Maybe with a few Democrats, but in terms of
the kind of connection, a deep connection with an audience, voters, whatever you want to call it, she
just doesn't have it. I don't think she ever has had, to tell you the truth."
"Had the vote on the rule failed, do you think the House Democrats would have been accused of
shutting down the government? Do you think they would have been accused of endangering the
economy or hurting the nation's poor or whatever other disaster happens with a government
shutdown?"
"Elizabeth Warren could succeed in shutting down the government and the Republicans are going to get
blamed for it. It's written in the commandments of media, and it doesn't matter what the truth is."
"By the way, folks, I was not going to be here tomorrow, but things have turned around. I have decided
I'm going to be here tomorrow because it's just too important not to be. I am going to be here
tomorrow for you."
"During a town hall meeting in Nashville President Obama blamed conservative talk shows for
Americans' anger over executive amnesty. He didn't mention any names, but he doesn't have to."
"I'm telling you, the roots of all of this discord that we are experiencing in our culture today -- the lion's
share of it, I think -- is coming from the classroom. Journalism school, political science school, whatever
it is. Some of the most radical, leftist thought is safely ensconced on campus with tenure."
"The nature of being an American is not to be filled with hatred and resentment and anger. This has to
be taught to people. It has to be inculcated. It is not the natural state of mind for an American to be
angry, distrustful, hateful, and bigoted toward his own country. That has to be taught. And it is being
taught, and, sadly, it's being learned. And it's been inculcated at some of the highest levels of journalism
and politics and the media."
"It's obvious that Anderson Cooper doesn't have any idea what the Khmer Rouge did if he thinks we
engaged in similar stuff."

Learned from Sean Hannity (TV/radio) Take America back!
Karl Rove notes: Decision Points by George W. Bush (pgs 168-170) talks about the origination of the
interrogation program. Rove elaborates: It begins with the recruiter for bin-Laden, Zubaydah who was
interrogated, revealing additional attacks on U.S; 13 techniques were reviewed and 11 approved; he is
475

waterboarded and reveals Romsi ben-Asheeb, conceived logistics for 9/11 and post-9/11 plots, in charge
of follow-on attacks; he is subjected to techniques, and these two lead to Khalid Sheikh Mohammad, the
mastermind of 9/11, who said, Ill see you in New York with my lawyers but he broke and led us to
Hambali who led their efforts to work in SE Asia, and Hambali gave up his brother who was in charge of
the effort to attack the west coast of the United States, and we swept up 17 members of his cell that
were in training to probably use aircraft to attack places on the west coast. We knew about Canary
Warf and attacks on Heathrow [London] and U.S. Embassies and military bases abroad, from people
subjected to these techniques of interrogation.
