Review rig specific JSAs on cutting and slipping


drilling line and hoisting personnel.

JSAs should be rig specific.


Rig manager is required on the
floor when using bosuns chair.

Inspect Equipment:
Anti-Fall equipment, block hanging line, bosuns
chair, shackles ,block slings, line cutter and hand
tools used for the job.

Use fall protection, 100% tie off


and avoid pinch points.

REMARKS

READY TO HANG BLOCKS


(Assuming drill pipe is in rotary table)
Drill String should be positioned at bottom of last
casing string and well secured.

Operational issues may


change position of drill string.

Ensure that well bore is static.

Assist in setting slips (with drill string at proper height).

Ensure that proper lifting


techniques are used.

After blocks are lowered, stand clear while elevators


are unlatched.

Avoid pinch points and stay out


of Drillers view.

Assist as directed in inspecting drilling line, while


Driller is raising blocks.

Keep hands clear while line is


spooling on drum.

After blocks are raised to proper position, assist in


using air / hydraulic hoist for installing safety valve.

Use full open lifting eye for


hoisting safety valve.

Assist as directed in tightening drill pipe safety valve


to the proper make up torque (do not put tongs on
open / close area of drill pipe safety valve).

Avoid pinch points and ensure


floor is clear of trip hazards.
Ensure safety valve is in the
open position. Stay out of the
red zone (between rig tongs).

Stand clear while blocks are moved to the proper


position for installation of block hanging line.

Ensure brake handle is locked


down after positioning blocks.

Assist Derrickman, in attaching harness / bosuns


chair to air / hydraulic hoist.

Attach directly to shackle.

100% tie off. Use proper hand
tools.

Ensure tag line is secured to drilling line, use tag line


to pull initial drilling line from drum.

Avoid pinch points.

Slowly reverse proper amount of drilling line off the


drawworks drum according to ton mileage program.

Avoid pinch points. If using


drawworks to reverse drilling
line, ensure that drawworks is
in reverse before clutching.

Rig manager is required on the
floor when using bosuns chair.

Inspect Equipment:
Anti-Fall equipment, block hanging line, bosuns
chair, shackles ,block slings, line cutter and hand
tools used for the job.

Use fall protection, 100% tie off


and avoid pinch points.
