A. TOPIC
Inferential and Descriptive Statistics

B. PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
The data are collected from the number of visitors every 5 minutes in both
convenience stores of Seven Eleven and Lawson , those are located in Bintaro Sector
5 South Tangerang, Banten. Then, these data are calculated and discussed statistically by
our group (group 5). From the result of the collected data we would like to know if the
average number of visitors of these two different convenience stores are the same.

H. HYPOTHETICAL TEST
Hypothesis (Ho): The average number of visitors of Electronic Solution and Electronic City
is the same with the level of significant is 0.05.
1. H0 : 1 = 2
H1 : 1 2
2. = 0,05
3. Uses z distribution because n = 100 > 30
4. Boundaries for acceptance/rejection critical points : : /2 = 0.025. From z-score table, the
boundaries are Z0,025= +1.960.
5. Decision : Reject H0 and accept H1 when RUz< -1.960 or RUz> +1.960. If not, accept H0.
6. Ratio test :
x1-x2 =

RUz = ztest =

= 0.3974

= 0.4529

x1-x2

7. Decision Making:
Because RUz is between >-1.960 which means in between 1.960, so H0 is
accepted. That means the average number of visitors at Seven Eleven Bintaro equals to the
average number of visitors at Lawson Bintaro.

I.

FINAL DISCUSSION
The null hypothesis (Ho) which was tested in this report was according to the number of
visitors in both convenience stores which were Seven Eleven and Lawson located in
Bintaro sector 5, South Tangerang, Banten . We collected the data on Friday and
Saturday (14th 15th November). We recorded the data of the visitors every 5 minutes in
both convenience stores .The level of significance used was 0.05. Because both data are
independent data, the total amount was more than 30 and there were sample variances of
both samples, we used z-distribution to calculate the hypothesis. With the level of
significance of 0.05, we got the boundaries of critical area of 1.960 from z-score table.
According to the ratio test that had been calculated which was -1.491. Therefore, we can
conclude the average number of visitors who visits Seven Eleven Bintaro and Lawson
Bintaro are the same.
