Upgrading to windows 7

Recently many business owners are contacting us regarding their current network that

involves Windows XP computers. Windows XP is in

its end of life stage, which means that computers can no-longer receive updates or be protected by
Microsoft Security Essentials. Thus leaving millions of computers at risk in businesses, homes, and
governments.
One question that we get asked the most isshould we upgrade our computers to a newer
windows version or just buy new computers. This is a question that is answered differently
based on what computers your business currently has and what you are trying to achieve as an
overall goal.

Why switch from Windows XP?

As Microsoft patches Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 they will expose exploits that may
be able to be used against Windows XP making it particularly vulnerable to these threats. This
means that the sooner your company replaces or upgrades its machines the more protected your
data and your customers data will be. For example if you own a business in the medical field; it is
against HIPPA to run an unsupported operating system like Windows XP. Overall its just about that
time to let XP go
Upgrading
Upgrading your computers may seem like the best option, however that is not always the case. With
the cost of having downtime for the upgrade, re-installing line of business software, and paying a
company like Active Solutions Group to perform this tasks may leave you with a great deal of
downtime.

Now in some cases it is better to upgrade your current PCs to Windows 7 or Windows 8.1. If you
have recently purchased your hardware and it is compatible with the newer versions of Windows you
may be better off upgrading your systems then a purchase a new computer. Reloading a system
may cost less than buying a new computer in almost all cases.
The best decision that you can make is calling an IT company like Active Solutions Group and
finding out if your computers are worth upgrading or not. IT professionals are well educated in the
field of upgrading and managing a computers performance and will be the best at letting you know if
you have a computer that is worth upgrading or is best off elsewhere.

Buying New Machines

The cost of new computers has dropped very significantly over the years. Meaning now is the best
time to buy new computers. However when you buy a new computer you will want to make sure that
you are not just going with the cheapest, but the best for your company so that you can have higher
employee output, and have longevity of the systems.
When looking for a new computer, unless familiar, you will want to make sure that you have a
company or someone alongside you to narrow down the line-up of new machines to the best price
based on what you are looking to achieve when upgrading to new machines.
