IMDb for unclear reasons seem to be defending Cameron, as they repeatedly

delete my threads
with no real clear justification. 5th thread thus far - IMDb I’ve revised my
information to the point
where I’m certain it doesn’t breach your conditions. Perhaps you should delete
threads such as
“WHO WANTS TO **** NEYTIRI??” etc instead of appropriate topics.

DO NOT COMMENT IF 1) YOU'RE A BLIND FANFOY 2) YOU HAVEN'T READ OR

COMPREHENDED
ANYTHING

Albion and Call Me Joe in particular are perhaps the most pivotal points. My
uncle worked on
Albion, and therefore I find it incredibly insulting that these evidence provided,
are labelled as purely
coincidental.

NB: Cameron was previously sued for Terminator.

------
This is perhaps the most unoriginal film this decade in my honest opinion... as it's
really just a
compilation of stolen ideas.
Remember the script only took two weeks to write, due to the lack of creativity
arising from
Mr.Cameron.

For a film to be classified as revolutionary or ground-breaking it needs something

that we've never
seen before, whether it's in story or special effects etc... Citizen Kane, Star Wars
etc...
Cameron got lazy, and is probably laughing his way to the bank. CREDIT
HOWEVER NEEDS TO GO TO
CAMERON AND THE 20TH CENTURY FOX MARKETING DEPARTMENT FOR HYPING
THIS FILM UP AS
REVOLUTIONARY AND GROUNDBREAKING!! FALSE ADVERTISING? YOU
DECIDE. SHOULD WE
TOLERATE THIS?

SCENERY - Roger Dean and Delgo (Film started production in 1999 and
both distributed by
20th Century Fox). The scenery basically consisted of lush rainforests that are
already present on
earth... hardly groundbreaking.

http://img.denihilation.com/delgovatar.html
ROGER DEAN'S ARTWORK: http://tinylink.in/18U

NA'VI - Blue Thundercats genetically combined with Native Americans.

Everything from their
attitudes, lack of technology, hair-styles, physiques, language, weaponry, tribal
behaviour. The
design was also stolen from Albion. Extract:"Iskai resemble humanoid cats in
design and are tall,
slender beasts." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albion_%28game%29
AND
http://tinypic.com/r/5uh7hh/6

ANIMALS - Nothing creative here, just refinements/hybrids reminiscent of

real life animals eg.
horses, dogs, rhinos... and just Photoshop around a bit.

CGI - Just basic updated technology we've already seen before, but with a
larger budget.
Motion Capture was present in Final Fantasy, LotR, King Kong, PotC, and
Fantastic Four (Silver surfer
guy). We were bound to see Avatar as everyone knows technology progresses at
a fast pace. It isn't a
major leap as you may think... wait until next year when a film will easily surpass
Avatar in CGI
...(revolutionary... I think not). Don't jump into the bandwagon. What happened
when you first saw
the initial trailer? (I saw it on my 50+ inch plasma the day the trailer was
released, so why the change
in opinion?)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/e0/Gollum.PNG and

to what??? This?

pandora_517x291.jpg
He didn't invent the facial expression thing as well.
http://tinylink.in/18V

3D - It's not the first film in 3D is it???????? Hardly noticeable as it was
quite subtle. Major
3-D films in 2009 included Coraline, Monsters vs. Aliens, Up, X Games 3D: The
Movie, The Final
Destination, and Avatar.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_RealD_films
PLOT - No explanation necessary. "Dances with Wolves in outer space"
quote Cameron.
Ferngully for its messages. Last Samurai. Pocahontas (EVERYTHING.. INCLUDING
EYWA), Call Me Joe
- (The premises is hugely identical).

FERNGULLY: http://theview.abc.go.com/forum/avatar-vs-ferngully

CALL ME JOE: http://tinylink.in/18P

Like Avatar, Call Me Joe centers on a paraplegic — Ed Anglesey — who

telepathically connects
with an artificially created life form in order to explore a harsh planet (in this
case, Jupiter).
Anglesey, like Avatar's Jake Sully, revels in the freedom and strength of his
artificial created body,
battles predators on the surface of Jupiter, and gradually goes native as he
spends more time
connected to his artificial body.
James Cameron's been here before. After foolishly telling the truth that elements
of The Terminator
had been inspired by two Harlan Ellison The Outer Limits episodes, Cameron
was promptly sued.

Do not say originality is non-existant, because there are films that even though
are partially
influenced, can be regarded as original.

2001: A Space Odyssey, Pulp Fiction, Chinatown, Fargo, Fight club, Rear Window,
Memento, Toy
Story, Monsters Inc, Being John Malkovich, Psycho, Eternal Sunshine of the
Spotless Mind, Back to
the Future... tell me where they were derived from. All On the top off my head as
well.
AND I HONESTLY ASK YOU. CAN YOU PREDICT THESE FILMS JUST BY THE FIRST
10 MINUTES ALONE...
UNLIKE AVATAR. THIS IS NOT UNIQUE - FILMS INFLUENCE ONE ANOTHER, BUT
I'VE NEVER SEEN A
FILM SO RELIANT ON OTHERS. IT HAD NO INNOVATION WHATSOEVER. WE CAN
NORMALLY DRAW
MERITS FROM SPECIFIC STORIES, BUT IN AVATAR, YOU SIMPLY CAN'T.
IF YOU'RE GOING TO RIP FILMS, AT LEAST DO IT PROPERLY AND VARY IT LIKE
EPIC MOVIE.
AVATAR'S SCRIPT MAKES DISASTER MOVIE LOOK LIKE SHAKESPEARE!!

WEAPONRY - Just replicated his own films, Aliens in particular. Lot of video
game concepts
are also visible (specifically Halo).

http://themadadmin.com/post_images/mech_walker.jpg

USB TAILS - The Navi reminds me of the cat people in Albion

http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/albion
The natives have soul plugs on their foreheads not unlike the navi's USB plug
tail. And... they talk to
trees too..
THIS GAME ALSO HAD THE EXACT SAME PLOT!!
RELEASED 1995
In Albion it is the year 2227, and you take the role of Tom Driscoll, space pilot for
the powerful DDT
Corporation. DDT has sent a factory ship called the Toronto to harvest minerals
and resources from
Albion, a newly discovered desert world barren of life but rich in resources.
Tom is sent to take some atmospheric readings on the planet, but crash lands
after an apparently
accidental systems failure of his shuttle. Upon reviving from the accident he is
shocked to discover
Albion is in fact a rich, life-filled world inhabited by many alien life-forms. It then
becomes his task to
explore the strange new world and locate the Toronto. His quest becomes even
more urgent when it
becomes apparent that the AI guiding Toronto is determined to destroy this life-
filled world in the
name of big business.

UNOBTAINIUM - Very original!!!

ACTING - Cliched stereotypical acting from every character. Not an Oscar

cast/acting
exhibition to be recognized as revolutionary. CGI does not constitute good
acting, as it's always
editable in post-production.

DIALOGUE - Don't get me started on this. "You're not in Kansas anymore"

"Who's Bad?"
"FIGHT TERROR WITH TERROR" and countless more cliched quotes.

CHARACTERS - Cut-out characters we've already seen before. Western

civilization fights a
primitive race who is technologically inferior but possess necessities/valuable
resources. Diabolical
tough leader who shows no emotion or remorse for his actions, and will stop at
nothing, and is
usually the final boss/last enemy.. including the scars. Good guy who questions
the morality of his
own kind, and joins the other race. Reluctant princess who falls in love with
outsider. Jealous Prince.
Suspicious parents of the princess. That Michelle actress, has already done
countless films as the
'bad hot chick'. I could go on forever.

BATTLE SCENE - Nothing innovative. Saw this in the Last Samurai and
Pocahontas, but with a
different outcome.

THEME - Nothing revolutionary about this... really unoriginal. Since

Cameron supposedly
wrote this script decades ago, did he just add the Iraq theme to complexify his
film? Battle for Terra
was immensely identical but received lower scores.
SOUNDTRACK - Horner uses his own music from previous films. Traces are
heard from Titanic
and Willow. "My Name is Lincoln" By Steve Jablonsky is the main theme from
The Island as
well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHuTxNIpdeM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glsyYJksGtg
In addition, Barry created a masterpiece of a soundtrack for the 1976
masterpiece 'King Kong'
produced by Dino De Laurentiis and directed by John Guillermin! He ripped
portions off it!
Also, King Kong's roar from '76 was used in this movie!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTHRFhUtko0 FURTHER VALIDATES
MY CLAIM AS THE
LAZIEST FILM OF ALL TIME. COULDN'T EVEN COMPOSE AN ORIGINAL SCORE!!

AND JUST BECAUSE CAMERON SAID HE WROTE IT 15 YEARS AGO, DOESN'T

NECESSARILY MEAN IT'S
TRUE. EVERYONE IS CAPABLE OF LYING, IN ORDER TO ADD SOME CREDIBILITY
AND ORIGINALITY TO
THEIR WORK. DID YOU BELIEVE CAMERON WHEN HE SAID HE WAS THE KING OF
THE WORLD OR
WHEN HE CLAIMED HE WOULD SIGN AS MANY AUTOGRAPHS FANS DESIRED?
THESE SIMILARITIES
ARE STRIKINGLY CLOSE. CAMERON WAS SUED BEFORE FOR ACCUSATION OF
RIPPING TERMINATOR.
“Cameron settled for an undisclosed amount. All versions of The Terminator
distributed today
include an acknowledgment to Ellison.”
I vote this as the most unoriginal film of the decade. Nothing is revolutionary
about this film. Please
snap out off the hype that is surrounding this film and face the facts.

SAVE THE INTEGRITY OF CINEMA! SOMETHING THAT DIDN'T REQUIRE ANY
CREATIVITY/ORIGINALITY SHOULDN'T BE REAPING IN BILLIONS!
