BCBP Launches ...(continued from page 1)

Jimenez, I am honored to present
to you our new slogan BCBP
Time Is On Time.
So, why is being on time very
important to all of us? Horace
Mann, an American education
reformer and politician says
Unfaithfulness in the keeping of
an appointment is an act of clear
dishonesty. you may as well borrow a persons money as his
time. Benjamin Franklin says
You may delay, but time will
not; William Shakespeare says
Better be 3 hours too soon than
one minute late; and from 1 Peter 2:17 Show proper respect
to everyone.
Yes, being on time means you
respect the time of others; you
are being considerate. While
being late makes one unreliable;

it is a way of saying that our time

is more valuable than the time of
the persons who waited for us. It
is also a sign of poor time management. Time management has
always been a problem for most
of us its either we are guilty of
keeping someone waiting or we
are the ones who are waiting. But
all these will come to an end with
our brand new slogan BCBP
Time Is On Time. It will not be
as easy as it may sound, but practice makes perfect. And before
long, our activities will be more
enjoyable, more vibrant as we
have more time for fellowships.
We will be better in what we do
in our workplace as we become
models for punctuality.
One churchgoer says, How
will you strengthen your FAITH ,if

Bert Masiclat

you are always LATE.

Brothers and sisters, I
present to you now our new
slogan: BCBP TIME IS ON
TIME!

Troy and Gina Solon, former chapter PSD, who now
live in California, USA spent a
two-week vacation here in
Lapulapu City last month.
The governance team and
some friends of the couple
arranged a special night to
bond with the couple. The
fellowship was held at Residencia Lourdes,
Camella
Homes, LLC.
The night of sharing, fun
and laughter ended with each
of the ladies bringing home a
bag. It started with Gina Solon offering to give away her

bag. As the bag was due to

be raffled, Baby Atoc was
inspired to dig into her assortment of bags to be included in the raffle. To each
her own, the ladies posed
with their bags to show off
as shown in the picture below.
The beautiful fellowship
night was just the beginning
of more fellowships to come.
The ladies agreed to meet
again and it happened on May
1, a holiday. This time we
enjoyed the yummy
dinuguan of Elpie Calayag.

TAY TAYAN
Guidance for Voting

Excerpt from the pastoral letter of Socrates Villegas, Archbishop of Lingayen Dagupan

We advise you not to vote for the candidates if:

1. The candidate cannot declare a categorical and clear NO to divorce, abortion, euthanasia, total birth
control and homosexual marriages or D.E.A.T.H issues. Pro choice is anti life.
2. The candidate has been linked to drug trade, drug possession or drug use or receives money from
illegal gambling or has done nothing to stop illegal gambling especially jueteng. Silence is consent.
3. The candidate has been convicted for a criminal offense. Government officials must be honorable.
4. The candidate supports black sand mining or tolerates irresponsible quarrying or illegal fish
pens. Nature is our mother; if you can rape your own mother, what else will you not do?
5. The candidate has not done anything until now to uplift the plight of the poor. Performance is better
than promises.
6. The candidate is giving money or distributing goods to voters during the campaign period. Vote buying
is prostitution.
7. The candidate has been involved or linked to terrorism or the use of goons for self protection within
or outside the campaign period. Peace is the only way to peace.
8. The candidate shows off religiosity only during the campaign period or is antagonistic to church
teachings and practices. Corruption and hypocrisy are twins.
9. The candidate is unfaithful to his or her spouse and children. Corruption begins at home.
10. The candidate has other members of the immediate family in government positions already. Promoting family welfare and promoting the common good cannot mix.
We submit these guidelines to you and plead with you to bring them to prayer. If Jesus would vote, for
whom would he vote? Vote like Jesus. If you cannot find Jesus from among the candidates just make sure
you do not make Judas or Barabbas win.
If you sell your vote, you sell something sacred; you make yourself a cousin of Judas too.

Dont miss the chances that life is giving you to spend with people you love. Remember; when it
comes to life, there are no rewinds.

Kita ang Iyang Lungsod, ang Karnero sa Iyang Panon

Fr. Martin Okafor-Ilozue CSSp - BCBP Mactan BCLP19

Fr. Martin

Obedience to the
Father and recognition of God as the
sole authority in our
lives is constantly
challenged by the
pluralism we found
in the world.

4th Sunday of Easter is referred to as the good Shepherd Sunday, and I was struck
by the responsorial psalm on that day. In my homily I asked the people if they were
karnero, some answered yes, others did not. I made of joke of those who said yes
by telling them that abinako tao man mo, karnero diay. The second time I asked
about being karnero, no one answered.
I explained to them about why in the Gospel of John, the lamb was used by
Jesus to refer to both himself and his followers, the karnero has two characteristics, one is its foolish behavior, that is why we talk about someone being sheepish
and the other is its ability to recognize only one owner (tag-iya). Jesus referring
Himself as the Lamb of God did just that, foolishly doing His Fathers will while on
earth without questioning and knowing that He has only one Father in heaven. And
so for us, He wants us to do the same, by calling His followers the karnero sa iyang
panon, He wanted us to do His will with total obedience and to recognize His Father as our Father and He alone.
In our world today where secularism has entered into the veins of almost everyone, cultural and personal relativism is the norm. Christians tend to forget easily the
call to be among the sheep, thereby taking divine wisdom as opposed to doing what
pleases the self. Many Christians has lost the sense of sin. Obedience to the Father
and recognition of God as the sole authority in our lives is constantly challenged by
the pluralism we found in the world. These distorts our knowledge of reality and
those who are committed to the Lord and doing their best to keep the law of God
found themselves being referred to as living in the past.
This is where the challenge to be sheep is made manifest, in our dealing with the
understanding of the world. Let the words of Jesus echo in our hearts always, that
we are in the world but not of the world. For us to be perfect Christian, obedience
and following are important and hence we must be the karnero sa iyang panon.

Our mission in life is to light lamp posts along lifes way. As we move on we leave behind us a trail
of light to keep others on the right track.

TAY TAYAN

The Good Shepherd

CH Guy and Eden Ceniza

Two Sundays ago we

celebrated the Good
Shepherd Sunday. It
reminded us of the qualities of a good leader as
espoused by Jesus. Looking at it more deeply,
ordinary individuals need
to be good shepherds as
well.
A few months ago,
our family witnessed a
very simple yet disturbing scenario. I pondered
on it for days now.
A family who earned
their means of living in
one of the streets near
Ayala Center caught our
attention. We saw them
sharing a meal on the
floor of an abandoned
building at the roadside.

We told our children who

were with us to observe
them. Our children may
have been touched with
what they saw. One time
when we had an extra
food from a restaurant
meal, our children requested to buy extra rice
and to give the food to this
family. We were amazed at
the reaction of the biggest
child when we handed the
food to her. She called her
two younger siblings with
their mom. Happily they
again shared the food
among them.
On this particular situation I knew that the parents of these children were
able to instill to them values which are now rare

among those who live in

the streets and even
among materially blessed
families.
We, parents, must be
good shepherds of our
children. It is our responsibility to handover the
priceless values that our
children need as they
prepare for the future
and become parents
themselves.
It is in this light that I
encourage your active
participation in our forthcoming Family Summer
Camp at Genesis Valley,
Cabangahan,
Consolacion, Cebu on May 18-19.
See you all there!

Only Pack What You Can Carry

Nery Gula

Tagging along our

children to Iloilo for the
NAC33 was a dream
come true. It was
planned as early as July
2012. Each member of
the family dropped her
savings into the Iloilo
bottle as we prepared
for the big weekend.
BCBP anniversary
celebration is an annual
activity that the family
look forward to. Availing
of promo fares and lowcost accommodation, we
had a wonderful family
vacation in Iloilo City.

We travelled light as I
advised the children: Only
pack what you can carry.
Indeed it was a hassle free
travel with four of my five
kids enjoying their first
time to travel by plane.
Another chapter of
happy family moments is
added to the memory bank
of our children. These
beautiful memories are
what we pack for them.
Beautiful memories that
will carry with them along
as they journey through
life.
As I reflected, the same

principle applies for all of

us. In our journey here
on earth we may be preoccupied with the things
needed to survive, but let
us not forget that in our
next destination, we can
only pack those which we
can carry.
We put into our knapsacks the many acts of
mercy, kindness and love
- the only treasures we
store here on earth that
are worth our share of
eternal life.

Ups and downs in our lives are given. Let us just remember Gods message: Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction and faithful in prayer.
