The mission of the Multicultural AIDS
Coalition (MAC) is to mobilize communities of
color to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic. We work to
ensure high quality, accessible prevention and
treatment services for people living with HIV, at
high risk for becoming infected, or closely
affected by the disease.
We also support broader community efforts to

eradicate conditions that fuel the epidemic,
including substance abuse, lack of health care
access, homelessness, incarceration and
oppression based on race, ethnicity, gender and
sexual orientation.

and AIDS in Boston’s Black communities.

Community Health Nexus Project
The Community Health Nexus Project aims to improve the overall
capacity of Minority-Serving Community Based Organizations. Nexus
provides technical assistance & capacity development as well as
cultural competence training designed to enhance HIV/AIDS programs
resulting in better service to communities of color. We bring in the best
resources specific to addressing the needs of the community and
make these resources available to community-based organizations,
faith based organizations, and volunteers. Wear a red ribbon to help
raise awareness about HIV/AIDS.
Technical Assistance Cultural Competency

& Capacity Building Training

and over 20 million lives already lost, the need for an
HIV vaccine is more urgent than ever. Finding a safe
and effective vaccine to prevent the spread of HIV is
our best hope for stopping the AIDS pandemic. To

In 2005 Community based
organizations led efforts to help the
Boston City Council declared a “State
of Emergency” regarding the HIV/AIDS
epidemic in Boston’s Black Community.
This declaration resulted in the Boston
Public Health Commission allocating
additional monies for HIV-related
health care services within the Black
Community. The Multicultural AIDS
Coalition (MAC) was designated to
implement HIV prevention and
State of Emergency Initiative education activities under this contract.
