Dear Friends:
Every year, the President of the United States issues a proclamation declaring the month of May Asian
American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. This year the focus is to honor the Asian American and Pacific
Islander Citizens for their valuable contributions to the social, economic, and political landscape of our great
nation. The Honorable Mayor, Alvin Brown of the City of Jacksonville will also issue a proclamation.
Please join MAAAB on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 6:30pm, for the annual Asian American and Pacific Islander
Heritage Month Celebration Gala at the Downtown Main Library, Jacksonville, FL. Annually many key leaders
from the Asian and community-at-large attend this celebration.
At the celebration gala, scholarships and awards will be given to deserving Asian American/Pacific Islander in the
following categories:

High School Seniors

Community and Public Service Awards
Business and professional Awards

For information in regards to scholarship and awards please visit www.coj.net/maaab. The deadline for
nomination is February 28, 2015.
MAAABs current Board consist of the following countries: Bangladesh, India, Burma, Vietnam, China, Philippine,
Cambodia (all Asian countries are encouraged to participate).

of diversity, racial harmony and many other humanitarian initiatives in this City. Your generous donation will
also contribute to scholarships for local deserving graduating high school seniors. We look forward to your
