Nepal hydropower source is from North belt where high Himalayas stand for natural
topography in building high potential energy. This is the point where we are motivated to
established a dedicated to manufacturing company in the field of hydropower.
North Hydro and Engineering Pvt Ltd, located at Khairiya,
Tikuligadh-18, Tillottama Municipality, Rupandehi was established
in 2013 by the dedicated team of technocrats, engineers and hydro
power professionals. The company is registered as company act of
Government of Nepal.
Since its inception in 2013, it has claimed its glory in the market by
the mission Dedicated to Fabricate stating the completion of the
job on time every time. North hydro and engineering Pvt Ltd is
determined to play significant role in hydro power developments in Nepal. The company is
ready to commit the timely ending of the job undertaken.
North Hydro also undertakes the manufacturing of major components of Hydro Electric
Projects (HEPs) and also manufactures the major components of HEPs with customers
design & drawing by reverse engineering where design & drawings are not available with
customers.

Er. Tanka Kandel is renowned for his excellency in operating business successfully. He received his
Masters of Engineering in Civil from Russia. His vision for staring North Hydro and Engineering is spin off
success from preceding hydro mechanical fabrication, North Engineering Company Pvt Ltd, Butwal. He
is active in social responsible activity as well, including Technical Adviser to Butwal Chamber of
Industry, Former President of Nepal Engineers Association-Butwal.
He has been active in expanding business philosophy including in education sector namely, Everest
English Boarding School, Plastic Industry, Micro Hydro Engineering Industry, Everest Engineering
Consultancy. He has gained his charm in business arena at Butwal for his success and ethical vision.

Suraj Pandey joined North Hydro since its inception in 2013 as a mechanical engineer. He holds his
bachelor of engineering in mechanical engineering from Kathmandu University in 2007 with first class
and then Masters of Science by Research in Mechanical Engineering from Kathmandu University and
University of Padova, Italy as Erasmus Mundus Scholar. He has more than 7 years of experience in
manufacturing, product design, research and development in various capacities from research assistant
to senior research and design engineer. He has outstanding commitment to any project he has
undertaken. In 2014 November, he has been felicitated by Research Council Norway, NORAD,
Norwegian Embassy at Kathmandu, SINTEF Energy Research Norway and Renewable Nepal Program at
Kathmandu University.
Mr. Arjun Dhakal holds Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Butwal Technical Institute. He has more
than a decade of experience in manufacturing and fabrication industries at national and at
international level, he has experience in metal and non metal destructive and non destructive testings
at EXOVA, a UK based multinational level testing laboratory located at Qatar. He joined North Hydro
since 2013. He is responsible in managing production, quality and control at the main premises
workshop held at Rupandehi.

Mr. Krishna Sharma holds Diploma in Civil Engineering from Butwal Technical Institute. He has more
than two decades of experience in Micro Hydro and Small Hydro in terms of site survey and site
management. His experience in Micro Hydro installation has surpassed more than 100 power plants. He
also served North Hydro as Project Manager for Khani Khola Hydro Electric Project [2.0 MW]

Er. Santsoh Bhandari received his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Anna
University, Tamil Nadu-India. He joined North Hydro since 2013 as a mechanical engineer. Since then
he is responsible for engineering design/review for reverse engineering drawings.

Mr. Shom Shrestha has a long hand on experience in the field of hydro mechanical fabrication starting
from his experience from Development and Consultancy Service (DCS), Butwal. Mr. Shrestha holds
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Butwal Technical Institute. His experience counts more than
two decades of production planning and drafting. His ability to dedicate for precision manufacturing
makes North Hydro and Engineering as one of the main competence in hydro mechanical fabrication.

How We Work

Our Key to Success for Hydro Mechanical Competence: We treat every project uniquely
Every project is unique and so is the site topography.
Already in the bidding phase, fabrication/manufacturing processes, well-tailored to project-specific constraints, contractual
requirements and geographic realities, are streamlined with the processes and the overall erection/construction project. For
elaboration of an economic budget framework factors like staffing requirements, building site, necessary equipment/machines
and the demand for supporting and special structures are determined.

Manufacturing and Transportation

You'll find North Hydro projects all over Nepal. As manufacturing in workshop only does
not always represent the most economic solutions. We however examine the
possibilities of fabrication at the site or nearby site. It is clear that, majority portion of
works
for
hydro
mechanical
represents
bulky
pipeline
and
sometimes transportation cost will influence the project initial investment making
high. Depending on headrace/penstock diameters and total tonnages we decide,
whether pre-manufacturing at our workshop or manufacturing directly on site is the
more economic solution.
After examination and checking of different scenarios, we define a unique and
customized execution strategy for each project. This is how we believe and treat your
project uniquely.

Installation, Erection and Safety

Installation is a task which we accomplish together with our experienced project
manager, engineers, foreman and pool of technician. Our site manager and his team
are supported on site by effective and competent supervisor with whom we already
have had a long and successful commitment.
Work safety and health protection enjoys one of our top priorities on all our construction
sites. Project-specific risk analysis and the thus derived protective measures to be
observed constitute the basis for safety instructions and training, as well as for the use
of personal protective equipment for each employee.

We understand the requirement of hydro power projects in terms of hydro mechanical contractor scope. We are a team of
experienced engineers, managers, foreman, technician and erector. We apply lean manufacturing techniques whenever
special items of hydro mechanical components have to be fabricated in order to win competence. Our team understands the
requirement of the projects job order and is active in fabricating/manufacturing assigned job order. Moreover, with our large

Site Works: Supply, Erection, Testing and Commissioning

By the time while moving to this section, fabrication/manufacturing is just 50 % of work done in a hydro mechanical lot
turnkey. Supplying the fabricated material from the workshop to the site is always a challenging. With seasonal market rate for
the transportation, which accounts normally 10 % of project progress, is determinant factor for the project completion duration.
Although seems simple for transportation, we never take transportation management and logistic simply. We believe it to be a
critical path management (CPM) for achieving milestone on fabricated material to the site work. In this regard, we have a
small team of personnel having wide network with transportation agency all over Nepal and skilled with site demand and
supply management from the workshop.

For erection, we have a experienced team of personnel, who has gained more than decade of experience in handling mass
number of people at the site. At North, we believe, completion and handing over the project ahead of the deadline is a symbol
of team spirit and team management. Apart from fabrication and supply, we always believe, site erection work accounts next
25 % of the project progress and success. Our site manager and office/workshop manager strongly prepare short terms and
long term strategic plans before site mobilizations. Our site experts prepare plans using computerized project management
software in order to track and execute the project. For every project site, we depute our own management staff in order to
communicate the daily progress whereby meeting our every milestones and achievements of short term and long term
strategic plans.
